To me it seems these (non wu) updates are test updates, every time when these are released a week later the official wu version is released and superseeds the non wu version. If these updates are so important to be installed ms would push them directly to all global users and not only to them who watch techsites. Now we have 3 "branches" of updates: 1. LTSB 10240 updates 2. 1511 WU updates 3. 1511 Non WU updates TP server and IP build updates not included.
As i explained before, my own system is one thing but the systems from my friends and downloaders are another thing. Before you mentioned the pushed to wu or not pushed, as my system didn't get the update offered in WU, my question was to verify it wasn't a WU pushed update. At the time the update was reported here there wasn't any info on the net.
I'm not judging, everybody has his own free desired choice i just don't like exaggerating or detracting the update just because it's not published to WU as for safety, many WU-approved updates caused problems
I'm just trying to learn, that's what i'm here for. Yes i know they did (although i only experienced one problem with kb3074681).

After installing KB3140742, WU still offers KB3135173. What's the reason? Isn't 3140742 newer than 3135173? I think the second one is already superseded by 3140742. Thanks
