No, again and again repeated in the past and fits for future as well: RTM IS FINAL !!! GA which comes to the shelves later sometimes in fall is THE SAME ISO, period
simply consider THE final build which is RTM and let go a few patch Tuesdays ... MS must make a cut with the statement of RTM to ship it to the OEMs. When these machines get on the shelves, some or even many updates can be online in the meantime though. You never will have a final product as long as updates come in. Take it as is, it was in the past and will be so in the future
In GA only minor buildstring will change, major buildstring (like 9600 in windows 8.1) remaining the same, this want say that the build received some patches
I think they are trying to get this out quick for kids going back to school, maybe they will do all the changes through WU So, what I would like to know is, does RTM count as the 1 and only activation we get or do we get activated on Final Release (GA)
i apologise if this has been answered a million times, i'm just having a real hard time getting my head around it.. I initially upgraded from 8.1 to 10 and had major problems, so i grabbed the ISO and did a full clean install.. I'm guessing that because of that, i wont get a free license.. is that correct? If that's the case, i guess ill have to do a base 8.1 install and then update to 10 TP again
For the next time... When you load up your ISO and get the upgrade screen, there is a option to "not keep anything" as you upgrade. Also Microsoft is aware that some people installed W10 TP from scratch, it's at least possible that W10 (on oem) machines automatically reads the key from your BIOS or EFI (W7/W8) and for W8 Retail keys you may be able to type in your W8 key to activate W10.
You can try again...if you have another extra PC laying around, like I have. Gonna give it a try myself soon and see what happens.
