Later, not tonight, but perhaps in a day or two, I'll weed through that thread and track down all the updates for 1607 and list them in their own thread. For those of us who do not follow the main thread daily, things get lost as M$ add updates for other builds.

 

That should not happen if you are using LTSB As far as I know there will be no new version of the long term support branch until 2019. Although I would like to see a media refresh between then and now (unlikely).

 

Difficult, since the updates are superseded quite fast. I still use first release ISO and install latest updates online, integration became kinda futile nowadays.

 

I too usually just update via online, but since I do sometimes use MSMG to remove junk, I rather add all the updates I can find, then remove the junk. As opposed to removing the junk and later watch every update add it all again... Which is like playing whack-a-mole, but I'd still like a head start.

 

Linux has become my primary OS. I have Windows only on 2 computers left. I found it was easier to switch over to Linux than I originally thought it would be. As it turns out, how I use Windows is how I use Linux. For me the switch was easy. I converted a computer for a family member, made it look like Windows, and it took them nearly a year to know they were using Linux.

 

I remove components after install to leave the WIM untouched (spares me carrying several different WIMs for same system). So far non of the several CUs i installed added anything back (only upgrading to 1703 would do that).

With calling it futile i meant the fact that you'll need to redo the integration with a vanilla WIM every time a CU was released to avoid stacking them. Lately MS started to release up to 3 CUs each month.

 

A lot of the stuff I remove needs to be removed from the system before it is installed. I wish MSMG worked on already running systems, but sadly, I don't think it does in a manner that would output a stable system.

 

Never had problems using install_wim_tweak (uses TI rights hence purges all) .

Show me the app or script that allows me to select a menu of items from the Windows core (not just the modern apps), while using the target Window, without having me forever typing in commands since I lack the time these days, while maintaining the system as stable, and I will happily use it. MSGM I select the menu, make a coffee, select another menu, eat a sandwich, select another menu, and I'm done. Very little interaction for me and allows me to continue to live my life without having to sit there at the computer to complete the job.
