Test machine ( lap top ) Windows 8.1 KMS activated with MTK 2.5.3 , upgraded to Windows 10 Pro. Looks like a permanent activation.
VOLUME_MAK after 'Free Upgrade' which isn't supposed to be given to Volume Customers ... rings this any bells?
Yep, that's it. I found it after doing a Win10 upgrade on a previously KMS activated 8.1 just like nihilist. Where'd you find it? I plugged it into VAMT and it says remaining activation count = "Not available" - but it says that for all my new MAKs from VLSC also (the old MAKs show valid numbers).
Since win10 force upgrade..will it be possible Ms release a security upgrade and deactivated those win10 upgrade from VLK and Daz loader at a latter date?
If I was Nadella, I won't do it. The whole idea of WAAS/Windows as a service, is to get as many ppl on board of WIN10 wagon, so that MS can sell stuff to you over the Windows store.
I have a question and sorry before hand if its answered before I have KMS activated Windows 8.1 enterprise edition activated via kmspico. How can i update to Windows 10. I dont care about the keeping the enterprise edition but i dont want to clean install windows 10 . Thanks
Interesting...I started up my VMware Player 6.07 install of Windows 8.1 (KMS activated Pro) this morning to try running the Win 10 update and when I went into the Windows 10 icon on the taskbar it said there were issues so I clicked for more info... It said the display (VMware SVGA 3D adapter) was not compatible with Windows 10 and therefore my computer was not compatible for the upgrade...contact the manufacturer...etc. Yesterday all was good when I checked. (Of course I and many others are running a fully updated technical preview build of Win 10 on another VM so it's not really an issue with the VMware display drivers) I rebooted the Win 8.1 VM and now the Windows 10 upgrade icon in the taskbar is gone and the $Windows.~BT hidden folder has disappeared from the C drive!!! WTF!? Has anyone else had this issue when trying to do a test upgrade in a VMware Player VM? Edit....at first I couldn't find info but apparantly it's not uncommon...disabling and uninstalling the VMware display driver should fix the issue...then reinstall it after update.
I'm was running W7 on VMWare player. The upgrade icon never showed to me there, no matter what I tried (the required updates were installed). I just mounted W10 ISO and ran the setup inside Windows 7. After it was done, W10 was working fine, but some things were strange... For example, display resolution was limited to 1024x768 and it wasn't being updated whenever I resized VMWare Player window. I noticed the display driver was Basic Windows Display Driver, or some generic one, even after forcing reinstalling VMWare tools. I did a clean reinstall, the installed display driver was still the generic one. I disabled the option to look for drivers on Windows Update, and then proceed to install VMWare tools. The display driver now is VMWare's one, and the resolution is updated whenever I resize VMWare Player window. VMWare player 7.1.2, VMWare tools 9.9.3
Most likely because the VMware tools is to old for Windows 10. You should upgrade to VMware 11 to make sure the tools is fully able to work on Windows 10
Not really, VMware player 7.1.2 was released recently and supports Windows 10 as you can pick it as an option for Guest OS. VMWare tools also was updated recently and I've been running W10 smooth so far. My only problem was when MS insisted on using their generic video driver instead of VMWare tools one...
The party will never be over MS is just saying it is a time-limited offer to get as many people as possible onto the new OS quickly. There's no reason for them to withdrawn the upgrade offer at a later date It's like how they said Insiders wouldn't get a free copy of Windows 10 RTM unless they stayed in the Insider program - they are just covering themselves
Now that the Microsoft MSDN ISOs have been released, will the links to the files be made sticky? I would like to update the answer to where can you obtain a copy of Windows 10.
