I assume KMS servers will run on Server 2012 at first for Windows 10 KMS activation, right? Since Server 2016 (as its name implies) won't be RTMed until a few months at least after Windows 10. And it's not like Microsoft is going to leave Windows 10 Enterprise (legit) users hanging until Server 2016 RTMs. I assume, if the KMS protocol changes, there will be a special update for Server 2012 for the Key Management role. So, worst case scenario, they update the protocol. We'd have to deploy Server 2012 R2 with the KMS role installed, and activate against the VM guest IP every 6 months like it was before KMS emulators like KMSPico came about?
At least no change would mean MS guys shooting themselfs an arrow in the knee . EDIT: Would assume the right way is to listen to real communication between a 10 Gold RTM (that has to be released yet) build and the host.
Hmm ... they switched from SLIC 2.0 to 2.1 with new keys. Btw: still no N version OEM:SLP keys available .
Its not TP I'm concerned about its RTM (when it comes out). And the Enterprise version, which is the most feature complete edition of Windows since 7, will not be part of the free 1 year upgrade program. I fully intend to use Enterprise. Its not even feasible or even possible to legitly buy a single license to Enterprise thanks to the complex Software Assurance crap.
Yeah, but that was a fairly minor change. Existing Vista loaders were quickly modified to use 2.1 slics. Hazar's loader was one of these early Win 7 loaders. Slic injection using grub4dos variants existed well before Daz created his loader.
They bumped the version number, but with Windows Server 2012 they added in an extra check which defeated all older loaders. I had to release a new version of the loader to bypass their new check. Something else to keep in mind is that you have less control of your updates with Windows 10, so like I said earlier, Microsoft could easily update the KMS protocol at a later date or put out an update that enhances WAT. I expect a change when the final RTM version is released though and I'll be pleasantly surprised if they don't bother to change the protocol since I could come up with at least 3 different ways to kill off the current KMS activators.
I was happy to see activity in the thread, but after reading, I don't believe there is any new information that needs to be added to the first post. Keep up the great work guys, I'm watching diligently.
Had a brief conversation with Daz and added information regarding the inability to opt out of updates per his suggestion. Also updated a discovery he confirmed regarding the update path of windows 7 users and the Windows loader.
I just want to confirm about 'GET WINDOWS 10' upgrade notification has been successful on my PC. I am using a Windows 8.1 for Student edition on my PC which I activated by Microsoft Toolkit with a GKLV free key from Google search only yesterday. Guided by this forum member 'hceeler' and I thank him for his help. There was a statement that I qualify for the free upgrade on 29 July but will be able to update and install in the first week of August. Perhaps via Windows Update. Important fact is that I am not a Insider programmer nor a retail buyer. I am a student with valid free normal windows email account and uses this to login to my PC. I had been updating my pc since last 1 month without activating it.
