I have two PCs, on which W8.1 was installed. One with genuine OEM license & one was pirated with MS Toolkit. First, I did the W10 10240 upgrade on genuine one. As expected, W10 license got activated. Nothing new. But to my surprise, KMS activated PC also get activated permanently after upgrade. So, I guess, Msft is giving away the W10 free upgrade offers to pirates as well. I hope, they'll not update the KMS to v7 & release a patch to deactivate pirated OSes.
Good news, I'm in your exact situation with two 8.1 PCs, one legit and one pirated (with MS toolkit) Let's wait the 29th now
ok, managed I was a bit worried reading this It's not an easy work if you have an uefi 8.1 machine that needs to be downgraded to non-uefi win7 with daz loader: disk must be reinitialized in mbr from gpt before installing win 7 from scratch. If a MS toolkit "managed" windows keeps the activation after upgrade as the daz loader does, it's a relieve. Let's see what happens after the 29th
Did you update via Windows Update? Or did you do a clean install? That is my problem... i like to do clean installs
REFRAIN: You need to upgrade once to achieve activated Win 10, after this, DO AS YOU LIKE. And now ... all repeat!!!
Is it possible to wipe the disk and start fresh after that? Can I save my 'key' or 'slic' or whatever?
I would like to request that conversation in this thread be limited to possible changes in KMS or suggested updates for the main post. I don't want to stifle good conversation, but it is hard to keep things up to date otherwise.
We've been here already - a business environment will be using WINDOWS 10 ENTERPRISE. The Enterprise edition will let you manage updates via your own WSUS/SCCM if you want - so what's the issue? You set up WSUS and use group policy to point your workstations to it. Alternatively, you can set up SCCM to manage software deployments and again, use GPO to point your workstations to it for reporting/detection. What does the personal insult prove? I'm not an MS fanboy - I also regularly use Linux/Unix distros as well as OSX and iOS but I support Microsoft WinTel infrastructures as my job and as my hobby. From a personal standpoint, if I felt as strongly as you do in regards to being forced updates on the HOME/PRO editions of Windows 10, I would simply use another OS - there's plenty you can choose from. Personally, I don't find it as much of a big deal as you do.
Sorry to ask this now but what are the commands for Windows Office 2016 ... I know the KMS address server but unsure about the commands to active it..?
Office is slightly different here. You might wanna check out the Office 16 thread in my sig. We can help you there :
Thanks, we've had them already. Probably doesn't hurt to have them all over though, makes it easier for others to find them lol
