I had begun here: howtogeek-dot-com/223875/how-to-change-the-login-screen-background-on-windows-10/ I had no trouble selecting an image and then downloading the .pri file and getting it in place, but then I got nothing more than a blank, light-blue screen and a mouse pointer at bootup. I had made a restore point just prior to doing any of that, however, and now the interesting thing here is that the restore-point restoration worked even better than I had hoped by leaving my new image displayed on the lock screen! So, maybe that is a work0around for anyone having trouble: 1. Make a restore point; 2. Change your image; 3. Replace the system's .pri file; 4. Do a reboot and remain relaxed; 5. Do a restoration and enjoy your new image.
Just installed Windows Insider Preview 14371 and I can no longer disable user login account picture on login screen. Anyone else seeing this issue?
I have searched everywhere I can think of and I cannot find this new user.png which appears to be somewhat transparent.
It appears to be having a lot of problems with latest builds. I think it is overdue for version 1.6. Hopefully, we can get that soon.
Same issue on 14372. Where are you Alphawaves? If someone finds new location of default login user account pictures please let me know. The Disable Login User Account Picture option seems to remove the picture everywhere (Settings>Account and start menu) but not on the Login Screen.
I'm afraid that that user account picture is still in that Windows.UI.Logon.pri file along with other login screen settings. Open the .pri file with notepad and have a look.
Hi Im using this great tool now with good success, but with one exception. I'm setting up a Win10 build and capture for a large deployment, and calling this tool with the command line during the (unattended) Image build process, because this is always running for the first time it comes up with the warning/disclaimer and holds up the unattended build process until I jump in and click "yes" Im wondering if there is a way to skip this warning, with the understanding that I have tested the process, and it at my risk! Alternatively, would you suggest I copy the PRI file with a batch file? However I'm concerned that this will be more of a problem going forwards with the soon to be finalized Anniversary Win10 build/ongoing changes from MS! Thanks for the efforts so far, this is the best/only option to customize win10 with our corporate background/login screen image Daniel Stockwell - Desktop & Systems Engineer
Hi, thanks Alphawaves for your great work. So right now this tool doesn't work on the insider previews like 14376 RS1, right?
Hello, Alphawaves. Have you made any progress on this application for the later builds of Windows 10? The account user picture on the login screen is driving me nuts. I had become so accustom to not seeing it. I have tried in vain to find where this picture is coming from in these later builds and none of the "normal" locations work any more. As always thanks for all your hard work.
I heard that Alphawaves has some family issues to deal with at the moment. Just give him some time and he will be back around.
Oh, lets only cater to one individual. You need to back your attitude down a bit, especially on first post. FYI: I do not advise anyone to use this tool on the newer preview builds because it needs updating and Alpha is a lil busy at the moment with real life. Give it time and these issues will be resolved. Until then, I would stay away from using this tool for now.
Anything before v1.5 on rs1 will cause this problem. 1.5 won't shut you down but is not compatible, so best to wait for Alphawaves to come back with an update. We should give Alphawaves all the time he needs to sort out his personal problems, especially because of his dedication to this project.
The Windows 10 Login Changer 0.0.1.5 was really helpful, in Windows 10 build 10586. I could hide the user picture in the GUI. Today I updated to the anniversary edition, build 14393, and now Windows shows the user picture again. Also the W10LC doesn't work anymore. The Apply button is grayed out. Is there a work around or will there be a software update somewhere in the near future? Thanks, Wullumpi UPDATE, sorry everyone, I'm new here and only now read the other posts. So I could have known the LC wouldn't work on the the new builds. All the best to Alphawaves.
