Looks good. I'll try it. Have a Windows 10 usb that I just got up and running, I'll try it first. (laptop doesn't have a disc drive)
WARNING... Using any tool to change your Login image (Windows.UI.Logon.pri) from an upgrade to Windows 10 will disable your login and will loop flicker!! Clean installs work ok.
Yep, invoke CMD with Shift+F10. Bootpartition is mostly C. and Windows D:. In CMD type D: and ENTER then dir to check, if it's the correct partition.
You must mean from a clean install, not from the install disk? I didn't find any such file on the install disk. Can someone upload the correct file? Otherwise I have to do an whole clean install on another hard drive to get it. Thanks!
files . glitter .im/PFCKrutonium/Windows-10-Login-Background-Changer/GPSW/Windows.UI.Logon.pri Space between files and ".glitter"
Ill add a check for (Windows 10) system upgrade in next release for Login/Lockscreen changer.. Maybe auto download correct pri file before applying.. Best way to prevent this problem..
Keep in mind, if after the upgrade you wish to do a fresh install, you now can since win10 is activated by HWID. Best way to get away from the limitations of the upgrade version. Just a suggestion.
Copy this into notepad: Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas] @="Take Ownership" "NoWorkingDirectory"="" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas\command] @="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F" "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas] @="Take Ownership" "NoWorkingDirectory"="" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas\command] @="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F /t" "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F /t" Save as Takeown.reg Run it.. then right click your pri file and Take Ownership.. Replace it with new one..
Thank you, especially for the batch (.reg) file! I've never had anything but trouble with taking ownership of files--now it will be a breeze. Things worked, mostly . . . I was able to change the login and the lock screen (which I couldn't do yesterday) but now I have a problem that I also had yesterday and that is that I can't sign out from Start10. Is there any way to sign out from the windows start menu alone? Again, none of this happened until yesterday's update, KB3081424. Everything worked without problems before. Just tried: the Lock in Start10 works but not the sign out or switch user--don't believe switch user worked yesterday either, but I have only one user. They both just flicker some and then go back to the desktop. Update: Found the sign out and lock for win 10 menu--the lock also works there but not the sign out.
Soo..can someone give me a comprehensive way to fix my computer? I don't think I can fix it by using a DVD install of Windows 7, but I may be able to obtain a Windows 10 install on a usb. How do I repair my computer but still keep all of my files?
What win2go said worked for me, what I did was use a windows 7 install usb, copied a copy of the login.pri to root of the usb stick, then boot 7 installer, go to recovery, select windows 10, select cmd, the hard part is figuring out which drive letters you need to use, mine was C:\ and H:\, I then used the command "xcopy H:\Windows.UI.Logon.pri C:\Windows\SystemResources\Windows.UI.Logon" Your drive letters will differ, but this is what saved my machine. I assume that you should be able to do this with a win 10 usb stick also, but I tested it with a 7 one myself. Edit: doing it with a windows 10 install usb caused an automatic repair boot loop, so try using your windows 7 DVD and a pen drive with the login.pri instead.
Hey alpha, i tried using the log in image changer and after i restarted my Computer it went insane and now I am stuck on flashing orange screen with no way to log in. If you have any advice on how to fix it please let me know !
