1. First, open the registry using Regedit.exe.
2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Lock Screen
3. Right-click on the folder and select Export.
4. Save this as a backup incase this doesn't work for you.
5. Copy the text in my last post, starting with Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00, into Notepad. (last post is ="ImageId_A"="{9F5E9C6C-8359-4271-81D0-2B72817D3CDF}""Details_A"="ROAMING"

6. Save the file as Update.reg.
7. Right-click on the file and select merge.
8. If you hit F5 in Regedit, you should see the new fields added.
9. Try to set your lock screen, You may have to close it down first then restart the settings for it to take affect.

It's because the tool removed the lockscreen pics in C\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\SystemData\'long string folder'\ReadOnly\LockScreen_A LockScreen_B etc

When you try to set your preferred image that was deleted from the LockScreen folders it won't show an image on the lockscreen, it doesn't work.

You can resolve it however by chosing images that weren't in the LockScreen folders before, they will work. After the LockScreen folders have images in them, every lockscreen picture of your choice will work again.

You might want to circle through seven or eight pics via Settings - Personalisation - Lockscreen. When resolved it will show presets again also.

Just a little note:

I have disabled Lock-Screen by reg. After using Login-Changer, Lock-Screen was enabled again. No big thing, to disable again, but I only want to inform you

 

Works perfectly on Windows 10 x64 Pro - updated August 11 2015.

If I run c:\sfc /scannow it takes out the lock and login screens graphics but I get my ability to sign out back where I couldn't before and can't after the changer is re-applied. (see post #124). It puts back the original Windows.UI.Logon.pri file. I really don't understand why Microsoft can't just provide a tool to change the login screen graphics (especially since they have it for the lock screen), although we really appreciate Alphawaves work!

 

So I discovered something that may or may not be useful:

First off, using the program breaks my lockscreen, so I switched back to stock for now.

When I revert the wallpaper or use the "Save PRI" function with the default wallpaper, it gives a .pri file that's 2097 kb. This pri file breaks my lockscreen where it would do a few blinks and then goto the password screen.

Now, I took the .pri file from my other computer that's completely stock and it's 2100 kb. When I took the .pri from that comp. and put it on my main comp. it fixed the lockscreen.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work for me on the latest updated ver. of Win 10, I get an error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." when I start the software, and again when I tick "disable lockscreen". My lockscreen remains enabled and is now a plain black screen with just a cursor showing (ctrl+alt+del works fine for proceeding) Fortunately replacing the .pri puts it straight back.

 

M$ seems to insist on only using their image. I miss the good ol days. lol

It worked great for me! Even though I upgraded from windows 7.

Question: Is there a way to make the user account image transparent?
