I don't know, why don't you find out? Also, I just got my older laptop to boot, but it refuses to activate the 10240 build it has installed (Upgraded from an older build). Any advice for getting it to activate?
While I haven't had an issue, I see that Winaero has a post from just 5 days ago describing how to activate 10240. I'm not able to post links yet but I'm going to guess that you will find it. I hope it helps.
The 29th, I will free your mind and OS and yeah, I have to find out lol. It would be great to add corporate backgrounds to our systems in the future
here we go... View attachment 37478 i.imgur.com**/i8Jtg4t.png N.B : dont add space beetween slmgr and /"option"
It's not that some JPEG files make problems and need to be re-encoded in order to work, it's the script that gets called incorrectly by the GUI if the path of the image contains spaces. The logon image cannot be found by the script and a zero-length PRI file is the result. The GUI does not catch the error and replaces the old PRI file with the empty one and then people get the black screen and cannot logon anymore. By re-encoding you save the image to a temporary path with a new name without any spaces, et voilĂ , it works.
Still don't got it to work.. Already done everything listed but still the same error and the same black screen as result. Set ownership of: C:\Windows\SystemResources\Windows.UI.Logon Optional done the same with: Windows.UI.Logon.pri Still, when i'm done my file what is 2.099 kb is then turned into 0 kb and when i lock/sign off my screen goes black and only my mouse pointer vissible. As a long outcomei must use Systemrepair and then my ugly 'Hero Windows 10' is back. Please help my with this
Make sure you have write access to the Windows.UI.Logon folder and the Windows.UI.Logon.pri in it. If you start the program with admin rights the Administrators group must have proper access, else your user account. Check if you can put new files into the folder via explorer, if it fails you have not set the access rights correctly (instructions have been posted earlier in this thread). Post output of icacls C:\Windows\SystemResources\Windows.UI.Logon and of icacls C:\Windows\SystemResources\Windows.UI.Logon\Windows.UI.Logon.pri if you think you have set the rights correctly. Also make sure your path to your wallpaper does not have any spaces in it. If everything fails, run the script manually. People have reported that it works for them. If it fails for you, post any error messages.
Problem solved after: Code: takeown /f \windows\systemresources\windows.ui.logon\ ICACLS \windows\systemresources\windows.ui.logon Then go to \windows\systemresources\windows.ui.logon Right click on the folder, properties, security tab, advanced, then go to owner and click change, input your username and click ok. Then click add, select principal, type your username and click ok then click full control Then you might get a prompt about changing the permissions settings on system folders just click yes. Then it says error occurred click CANCEL. Then click ok on propagation warning. Do the same commands and steps for \windows\systemresources\windows.ui.logon\Windows.UI.Logon.pri thanks
Okay, here is what I need: Can someone make a script, batch or powershell doesn't matter, that can set the permissions on the pri directory/file reliably. That is all, Thank you. Also, Updating the main post with a link to the modified script that takes command line args.
Hang on.... EDIT: What is the exact path we are discussing. Do I need to take / grant permissions on the folder first because they are inheriting ACL from above ?
Is there anyway to fix this issue: When booting, they don't show my MSA account Image, just the grey default account icon. I've used control userpasswords2 to block the password login. In my netbook, i've also disabled the login authentication, but my MSA icon is ok.
