    It looks like you had more than 5 posts before this thread started, which leads me to question the 5 post rule.:confused:

    Anyhow, just typing out something like ( www DOT somesite DOT org / mypicture ) would probably be enough for us to figure it out.

    Are you really afraid that I didn't realize that? :rolleyes:

    Please don't dwell on the past any longer, but instead think carefully about understanding what you will have to do next from your working Windows to your Windows 10 external disk just connected as an external disk. ;)

    Summarizing:
    1. Run ScanDisk;
    2. Perform an image backup of the 2 partitions;
    3. Verify and take note of actually assigned drive letter of your Windows 10 external disk;
    3. Open Command Prompt as administrator and IF drive letter of your Windows 10 external disk is still D: then run the following commands pressing Enter after performed each of them

    bootrec.exe /fixmbr D:
    bootrec.exe /fixboot D:
    bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd D:

    Of course, you'll need to replace D: in the commands above if actually the assigned drive letter of your Windows 10 external disk was no longer D: .

    chkdsk /f

    ( ScanDisk does not exist in any recent windows version )

    Yes, I'm aware of that.
    It's a reminiscence of the past for me, and I don't know OP's age (just kidding).
    However, I would have liked the OP to ask me how to run it.
    I probably would have told him to execute it in scan mode first (chkdsk /scan), more fast.

    My pleasure.
    Glad you got your Windows 10 disk back.

    Rather, try to find the reason why so many disks get corrupted in your machine. ;)

    WHY ? so many bad disks?

    I believe I found the answer Now at list its my theory and it may help someone else if reading this post, I will be as short as possible

    Nothing to do with the Windows 10 that You helped me fix

    A few years back I read on the net about installing windows as GPT /UEFI instead of MBR; lots of propaganda but no explanation on the consequences of.

    I purchased a 1 TB Seagate HDD and I installed windows 7 GPT instead of MBR, NOT knowing the consequences of mixing the two systems together

    All my HDD wore/ are MBR, I then connected different disk to the GPT to get thinks I needed off them, there were no signs of problems, then disconnect disk and connect other disk and do the same.

    The nest time I re-plugged the disk in they wore raw, unallocated, offline, unformatted, etc. I buy new HDD and start over and live the old disk aside, as Unable to know how to fix.

    No mention from experts that the two are not compatible ?

    I purchased a new Seagate HDD from a local store for backup/ storage, it seams ok and I start adding files and stuff, in one hour or two it brock down my 4 TB backup disk and others connected are unallocated, unknown, raw, the disk is death

    I take back to the store for exchange and get new one (the guy looks at it yes it is faulty) new disk WDC same

    thing happens the disk is death, no help from Segate WDC, I went and purchased some Toshiba online, no faulty drivers.

    It took me a few years to know what was happening, I am and I have wasted a lot of time train to fix the HDD with no experience and no luck.

    The GPT disk was destroying the MBR disk

    One day the new disk I installed GPT on died without sing of bad, the backup was to old no disk to backup, I had to have data recovery on that drive and another one before that, I may have to do many more, money is the problem, its expensive.

    Again I thank you for your help Very Much appreciated

    Best Regards
