I would feel far more comfortable using Acronis or Paragon imaging software and make an entire backup if the drive to put back on the drive for that. Then it wont matter what you do to the HDD, you can always put it exactly back to the way it was when you backed it up.
I will try the reset sometime in the evening, and will let you know of the results. thanks again for the help guys Another question: if I try from Win 7 again, do I really have to download all updates, or can I upgrade right away to Win 10 after activating with Daz loader and doing the online activation check?
My device uses a 64GB mSata SSD that isn't upgradable. So I guess doing a full backup would let me do a full wipe of the SSD for the W7U install & the clean W10 Pro install. Should add a couple of GB's back into the pot. Plus I don't have any stand alone 32GB USB sticks (required for an Acer Restore Backup) at the moment to do a Restore USB. Although I do wonder if I could create a 32GB partition on a larger USB drive to still create it as an extra backup. But I do have plenty of large USB drives where I can put the entire SSD backup using either/both software packages you mentioned. Great idea.
I had the same issue of it not being activated, and what (apparently) fixed it was to open the Store app while logged on as an administrator. Just open and close it; you don't need to use a MS account or anything. I can't say for sure if that did it or if it just happened to activate right at that time, but opening the Store as a standard user didn't do it.
my plan is: to install windows 7 on different hard disk, upgrade to windows 10, make a clean install of windows 10 and activate it. make an image of the new fresh install windows 10 after activation completed successfully. put back my windows 7 drive. my question is will I lose activation on my windows 7? or windows 10? from what I read it isn't possible. I have 3 computers to do it for and all with legit keys no loaders. any thoughts to share? cheers
That's probably why it failed activation, Yes you have to have every recommended update from windows update, revert back to previous operating system if you have not removed windows.old and try again
i just did an upgrade from win 7 ultimate sp1 with daz loader went well then instead of fresh install via usb or dvd i did factory reset it comes out the same way as fresh install it deletes everythingggg except the activation part when it asked if u wanna delete everything say yes if it ask if ur gonna sell or recycle the pc dont pick that or u lose the activation DAZ years later he is still the man
I did download all updates before upgrading to 10, but failed to activate with the fresh install I'm gonna try this out; it's gonna take another night of downloading all win7 updates
