Hello, I noticed yesterday after creating a recovery drive and applying it to the same laptop for testing purpose (Internet off) 1- I had to create an account 2 - Previous Wallpapers and other stuffs has not been kept 3 - All M$ apps are back !! 4 - All applications I installed before are back 5 - Activation is ok Questions : What is the real concept of the recovery drive ? I believed ppkg files and swm files were the exact copy of the system and applications + account at a T time. It seems this isn't the case. What do you think ? Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks. Coleo
it’s only there to recover your Windows installation, not to recover your files in the exact same place. That’s what an inplace-upgrade would do: just run the setup.exe from an Windows 10 ISO and select „Keep my files and apps“, then everything should stay in place. And that’s how you can still create a local account instead of the MS account thing: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/posts/1620612/
If you wish to back up your system in every detail they why don`t you do a partition image level backup of your harddrive using partition backup software? there are some free ones out there that do work.
