Take ownership of the folder, then rename the process/folder, it will say access denied, terminate the process and you will have like 2-3 seconds to rename it, then you can just delete the whole folder. Why would anyone want to cripple his apps just to save a few hundreds of MB? I like saving space, but not at this cost.
My first visit to the site and the answer to a maiden's (Well! a bloke actually.) prayer. Thanks very Much. Regards Bryan
Would not be safer to use Windows inbuilt tool to delete Windows.old: cleanmgr /dc /sageset:65535 & cleanmgr /sagerun:65535
Hello I know that when you set an image as your desktop wallpaper and then delete it it stays as your wallpaper where is it stored !
Registry: Code: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\Wallpaper\ Shows the path to the currently set wallpaper.
I know but try this : put an image in a folder then set it a wallpaper check the reg key ... it's there now delete the image file and you'll see that your wallpaper is still the same and also the reg key but the image file is not there so it must be in another location and that's what am looking for EDIT: it's not in this path c:\windows\web\wallpaper\theme1\img1.jpg
^ Hmm... Not easy, I tried a few things and searched folders and the registry but drew a blank so far. I thought in previous versions of Windows the currently applied desktop wallpaper was converted to a bitmap (.bmp) and copied to the Windows folder. It seems not so in Win 10. Edit: Found it... Code: %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\TranscodedWallpaper Copy the TranscodedWallpaper file elsewhere and add a .jpg file extension and view it, it's always the currently applied wallpaper whether applied from Control Panel Background settings or applied via a third party program. I think it's always a .jpg whatever image it was applied from .png etc. Edit 2: Don't know if it's that or the file that appears in ... Code: %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\CachedFiles\ Edit 3: It's the second one that's the currently applied desktop wallpaper, deleting it and pressing F5 to refresh clears the desktop background.
That directory is incorrect, you need to have it like this %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\CachedFiles\ or %Userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\CachedFiles\ %AppData% will go straight to the Roaming folder.
That appears for me. I think there no way to remove it. Since All Apps lists everything that is installed
Seems that way, I tried many tweaks on a secondary computer used to test win 10 and so far nothing worked and now it's just a useless icon on the All Apps menu with a funny link for a name to a registry entry (@{Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_1.4.8.176_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewyms-resource--Microsoft.Windows.Cortana-resources-TileDisplayName}) and makes no difference if you disable them or even delete them. One good thing I did notice is that so far I haven't been able to kill Win 10 on that computer and it keeps double booting with 7 happily after deleting various registry entries and using many of the tweaks available here and elsewhere to minimize communication to mummy and make it more usable for my needs. I do hope to find a solution though
My Dark Theme Windows 10 Home Edition Awesome works the dark theme on Windows 10 Home Edition Here's a Screenshot!
change login screen: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System create new DWORD item DisableLogonBackgroundImage and to set the value to 1. DOES NOT WORK! Windows 10 RTM x64 LTSB N How fix?
Well, it should work (maybe after restart). Anyway, it's better to change this setting in GPEDIT.MSC. I don't remember exactly where in GPEDIT.MSC, but you can use a filter to find it quickly (maybe search for "background"). Once you change the setting there, it should update both the POL file and the above registry key.
