has anyone a registry tweak / or batch for this I mean for working in home/core and/or silent in pro in home where is not gpedit.msc c
You need to disable WD manually, to stop its registry protection and then apply this ASAP: reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WdNisSvc" /v "Start" /t REG_DWORD /d "4" /f reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinDefend" /v "Start" /t REG_DWORD /d "4" /f Or you can use: winaero.com/blog/nodefender-disable-windows-defender-in-windows-10-with-few-clicks It will just enable itself back on, not to mention, that the background process is running, even when it is disabled.
if you don't have yet the solution , I have it , with an exe file , you can run it via a batch file [complete silent , but only as administrator] if you have a solution please post first yours. [who know , can be wiser then mine] I will elaborate anyway soon my way when I will have the proper time available. I think you all MEMBERS deserve this is a global way to do a lot of things with files or registry or anyelse in win 10 [also in win 8.1] things who are not allowed in windows 10 by default [because of restriction of default permissions/user rights even for administrators] c

Windows Update from my tips , discovered in windows 10 you can find or set manually in settings [immersive control panel] / update & security / advanced options tip_8_windows_update_automatic_default_requires_restart.reg this tweak requires restart AND at least 5 minutes after first restart for become effective maybe more restarts more time [don't worry , will works after some time] I don't know why. tip_8_windows_update_notify_to_download_recommended_requires_restart.reg this tweak requires restart AND at least 5 minutes after first restart for become effective maybe more restarts more time [don't worry , will works after some time] I don't know why. you cannot set this manually by clicking a button after the tweak became effective will bring you the download button and the message : Some settings are managed by your organization. and will hide the message : Available updates will be downloaded and installed automatically. attention : by clicking on download button the updates will be downloaded AND installed without asking for your confirmation before click on download button you can use if you want/need the Microsoft hide/unhide updates tool this tweak was published earlier in this thread but I mention it with more explications tip_9_windows_update_defer_updates_OFF_default.reg tip_9_windows_update_defer_updates_ON_recommended.reg how to set Microsoft Update instead Windows Update [silent] [aka] Give me updates for other Microsoft products when I update Windows [if you want to do it silent, otherwise you can simply click the checkbox there] this is a little bit more complicated but is doable also in silent mode Microsoft Update is not only a value in registry Microsoft Update is a SERVICE for set it on properly you must install/register its service for set it off you must uninstall/unregister its service for this I use 2 autoit scripts [.au3] can be translated in other scripting language [ .vbs / .cmd / or else ] Microsoft update ON Code: Func _set_Microsoft_Update_ON ( ) Local $_ServiceManager , $_NewUpdateService $_ServiceManager = ObjCreate ("Microsoft.Update.ServiceManager" , @ComputerName) $_ServiceManager.ClientApplicationID = "My App" $_NewUpdateService = $_ServiceManager.AddService2 ("7971f918-a847-4430-9279-4a52d1efe18d" , 7 ,"" ) EndFunc ;~ _set_Microsoft_Update_ON. Microsoft update OFF Code: Func _set_Microsoft_Update_OFF ( ) Local $_ServiceManager , $_NewUpdateService $_ServiceManager = ObjCreate ("Microsoft.Update.ServiceManager" , @ComputerName) $_ServiceManager.ClientApplicationID = "My App" $_NewUpdateService = $_ServiceManager.RemoveService("7971f918-a847-4430-9279-4a52d1efe18d") EndFunc ;~ _set_Microsoft_Update_OFF. also I use a third autoit scrip for read the status of the service this one is a simply registry reading for getting Microsoft update STATUS can be done in a lot of other ways Code: Func _is_Microsoft_Update_ON ( ) ; Local $_tampon = RegRead ( "HKLM" & "\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Services" , "DefaultService" ) ; If $_tampon = "7971f918-a847-4430-9279-4a52d1efe18d" Then Return True Else Return False EndIf ; EndFunc ;~ _is_Microsoft_Update_ON. deleting or writing above registry key will not change Microsoft Update status if you delete the key [with Microsoft already set ON] it will be recreated after next restart so , register/unregister the service is a must and also must do it in a proper way restart for setting ON/OFF Microsoft Update is NOT required above autoit scripts works in [xp / vista / 7 / 8.x / 10] and probably also in server editions [with admin rights for vista+] I can compile an .exe file for ON/OFF [is ON do OFF, is OFF do ON] maybe 2 [x86 / x64] c
Cortana Search Box [ hide / icon in taskbar / big taskbar search box ] from my tips , discovered in windows 10 tip_12 you need to find out first your user SID [ security identifier ] you can find your SID here in your registry and check/set the value in registry here replace SID with yours the change will be instant after a desktop refresh but the icons in taskbar will not be properly arranged [all things will be OK after a restart] c
Had any of you tried to delete all the moder apps with dism? i removed everything but i still see in the start menu these apps: twitter, flipboard, shazam, candy crush and minecraft. any clue on how to remove it using dism?
Code: regsvr32 /u /s "C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\shellext.dll" Also does the trick to remove the context menu entry.
bay12, I tried to remove some modern apps through DISM, but it now fails in the latest build 10586. I had to resort to brute-force and manually remove those apps. Mind you, there are several locations where these reside, so be sure to delete them all.
is just the only thing done by unregister shellext.dll ? [Disable "Scan with Windows Defender" in right-click context menus of files and folders] nothing more than that ? c
