Thanks Painter, I really appreciate it Is that where there from ??? I might have to check out Samsung wallpapers
Seriously? 9879 sucked for me, that GDI leak in explorer was the real killer, and that's fixed in 9901, but overall 9901 is much more stable in my experience.
Absolutely, at least in my situation. I suppose stability could be different for everyone between builds based on different hardware and so on. But mostly, it feels nice to be back on something that is supported (at least minimally) with regular patches. There's been two explorer.exe patches in the past few days as well, but not likely helping the GDI leak. But I will keep an eye one it. The workarounds have been helping slow the leak down anyways. You are correct, 9901 seems to have corrected the GDI leak. But for me, there were so many broken things. None of the Metro apps worked, including the Store. The Event Logs were full of failures of internal Microsoft system components failing. And also I could not utilize any of my normal security software, and since that is always my specialty and my priority, I had little choice but to go back to 9879. Thankfully it will only be a number of weeks until Consumer Preview is out, or even another leaked build or two which could be more stable. The other leaked build, 9888, was actually very stable for me. That was another possible choice for me. But in the end I decided to go for what is still receiving some support by way of patches. And in return, I have a much less angry wife. Also, the thing about 9901 was that at least on my system, I was getting a BSOD every other startup or every third startup at least. And I put something like 6-8 hours into it looking at the underlying details and trying workarounds by to no avail. I did, however, find that command prompt workaround to help others plagued by the normally invisible command prompts. If I had more VM capabilities at the moment I would dig back into it to find more about the BSOD. It seemed to happen with any security software that utilized kernel mode drivers or low level file system drivers. Without the security software, no BSODs. And I do a lot of testing of kernel mode drivers for different software companies and so I need things relatively stable. But as I am one for adventure or misadventure, the moment another leak occurs I will be hopping right back it. I have confirmed that the Black Theme from 9901 wont work with 9879. But now I am curious if it would work on 9888 leaked build. I may give that a shot later today and I'll post any results. If it works, then I will share the goods.
I've had just the opposite results Chris, 9879 I use daily, 9888 and 9901 I have uninstalled. I wonder if the results are based on the .iso used, update or clean install, hardware configuration, or who knows what...
