I saw some cool widgets on Windows 10 desktop made using Rainmeter (I think you know about it). On the other hand one my friends told me be aware of using rainmeter because it contains malware. Is that true?
I used Rainmeter quite a bit, some years ago. It is a very customizable program, and gives you extensive control over the way most items are displayed on the desktop. I no longer use that program, because I learned how to make widgets, customize widgets, and I like to be more in control of what I use and what I create. As far as malware goes, I never, ever, had any issues like that in all the time I used Rainmeter. Of course, that was then, and this is now. Things change, but being an open sourced program, I find it hard to conceive that the code contains malware...... I would urge you to give it a try. It's an excellent way to make entry into the desktop customization field. A truly remarkable program, for sure!
Outstanding! I use an off-shoot of it, Pale Moon. Been using it exclusively for a long time now. Anyways, very nice wallpaper! Thanks!
@ChaserLee I like what you did, although I wouldn't use it myself. One hint though, the font you used in the wooden panel looks a bit 1970's (a bit 'groovy') which doesn't go with the atmosphere of the wallpaper, which reminds me of the early 1900's... I would prefer a font like Copperplate bold or an Art Deco font, which is more in the spirit of those days... Just my two cents... Edit: the radio widget is wonderful, I would like to see that in a 'Cortana' style...
You're welcome... The 3D 'dept' is IMHO caused by the split line in the font. There are some Art Deco fonttypes that could have the same effect, like Boogaloo Avenue NF (two split lines) or EF Broadway Engraved (single split line). Give it a try... Is the CPU and RAM meter a working gadget/widget or a static picture..? By 'Cortana style' I am thinking of a widget that goes with the current theme on my desktop (see picture below).
Once again, many thanks for the great suggestions! I'll give those fonts a try here in a little while, and post the results. (You do know to click on the image to get a larger view, yes?) The CPU and RAM meter is fully functional, in all respects. Light switches, Volume, Power functions, Clock, network meter, HDD meter, and pagefile meter all fully functional, not to mention the obvious functions of CPU and RAM usage... The overlay in the upper left of the screen is also fully functional, everything you see on it is a result of real time information. Not to forget the wooden shelf at the top center, which holds 6 icons/shortcuts on each 'shelf'. By clicking on the hanging ribbon, the shelf displays the next set of 6 icons, and so on and so forth. I like your wallpaper! That's also one of my favorite flavors for a desktop, the tech aspect. I'll give some creative thought to your request, and see what I can come up with. Would you like to stay with the same basic colors, or what would your preference be? Alright, I'm off on the hunt for the two fonts you suggested, if I don't already have them. Hard to remember all the installed fonts I have....
I have a basic shape in mind, rectengular (portrait) and one half side of here face (left or right, your choise) and one half side a piece of the mainbord background would maybe be a good start... I bet you do..! But just take your time, no rush...
Good, that will give me a starting point of reference. And it helps that the mobo is just the PC board, without any components soldered in place. Gives me plenty of choices for anchor points. Take care, and I'll get back to you when I have a rough proof of concept in place. If you like that, then I'll finish up on it, or make any changes you wish. Later!
