Good. Now mount Windows 10 Multiple-edition ISO with UltraISO. If you can not, extract it with WinRAR.
I'll have to re-download the ISO...I got frustrated and deleted it. Also the wife wants me to go outside to do "husband work" sheesh can't let a guy work on stuff....I'll be back ummm where do I get the ISO again?
It is OK. Now 1. extract gatherosstate.exe in x86 Windows 10 ISO\sources to C:\ 2. double-click on C:\gatherosstate.exe 3. in few seconds, a GenuineTicket.xml will be generated at C:\ 4. save/copy the GenuineTicket.xml to USB or somewhere for future use to activate free Windows 10. What edition is your Windows 7? Only Pro and Ultimate can get free Windows 10 Pro. I must go to bed now. See you tomorrow.
ok I'm up to this point. After I rebooted it tried to load windows 10 (gave me no option to load windows 7). I finally got it back to windows 7 though. the XML file is saved to one of my other drives. And I ran the bcdboot as I:\Windows as that is the partition I copied applied from the image instructions above. SO, I'll wait for you tomorrow to go further. Rusty
As a side note, once I got back into Windows 7, I ran MSCONFIG, under "Boot" it had set Windows 10 as default OS...I changed Windows 7 back to "Current, default". Will continue tomorrow
Good on you. Q1: Please show the result of command slmgr /dlv from Winfows 7 Q2: It tried to load windows 10. Fine, but how did did it go? You must described the process, and not to mislead to off-topic of dual-boot problem.
Yes Windows 10 Pro is on the "I" drive It tried to load 10 Pro but errored out something about no boot. I can't remember
Good. Your C Drive has 300 GB some free space, bit it only allows 20 Gb some compression. There must be something wrong with the Windows 7 System. Do you use System protection and Hibernation? And how big is the page file?
I don't use Hibernation, yes System protection is enabled for the C drive. page file under "Virtual Memory" is currently allocated 16377MB
