(KB5044384) Failed to install on 24/10/2024 - 0x800f081f I use 26100.2033. Should I use Recovery from within windows? Would it fix it? I already tried standalone installation, sfc, dism restore and cleanup, they didnt help.
Online or offline, manually or by WU? What recovery option do you mean, cleanups usually are not helping in these situations.
same issue here, are you using en-us ISO with any language pack installed? or any other language iso with en-us language pack installed
first of all, backup your system bullet proof upgrade method: 1. in-place upgrade to the 1742 MSFT ISO 2. right after that in-place upgrade to the 26100.2161 using ISO (mine is 26100.1 + all updates + cleanup / resetbase + netfx35 with W10UI) this is how I fixed one of my production VMs some hours ago, not sure what was wrong with it, I just manually run resetbase a few weeks ago and that's it p.s. in my case Windows Defender should be up and running, I can't upgrade if WinDefend service is disabled
I can't follow this all anymore, the MSFT ISO is language specific, what LP did you mean there and what build was the install before it failed to update to 2161, and what language ISO is the UUP dump ISO?
I was on 26100.1742, downloaded from MSFT, clean install en-US, I have installed pt-BR LP, when trying to update using WU I was getting 0x800f081f, dism also was not working to restorehealth, I really don't know if the LP was the issue. But using UUP dump en-US ISO, it worked. Also DISM is working too
I am trying to make some sense of all this, for you the one inplace upgrade fixed all, for the other it doesn't work, but one thing is still not answered, what SKU is this all about, because 26100.1742 is released in all 38 languages so no need for language files anymore.
This one always breaks LCU reinstallation on ru-ru system, it installs en-us LXP from the store and then it reinstalls LCU in the background without success Education sku, I don't think it matters
If it's not IoT Enterprise 2024 LTSC you can easily install the consumer/business SKUs in the original language, no need for using LPs.
