That feeling when you're so old you can't even remember if it was your idea or not... Anyway, this is actually not a good idea if group policy is available because MS loves to do sneaky things like sneak whitelisting overrides into their functions. Those overrides don't exist with the group policy editor. The GPE is meant for system admins to specifically block things like this in order to facilitate business with MS.
I dont like the new right click menu style . Everytime i have to click on "Show more options" and this is really very annoying for me. May i disable this feature ? Simply i want old right click menu. Another problem when i left click on Audio and Network icons on the taskbar , nothing happens. I can not see volume level bar and pop-up network window is this normal in windows 11 ? thank you
and.... Whoa!!... there I was thinking (a dangerous thing) that this thread was reserved for specific Tweaks (comments on said tweaks - I understand) but surely comments about what you like or don't like about this 'NEW' OS would be better served in one of the 2 other threads... must be a senile thought
Not a senile thought mate, you're quite right. I've fallen into the trap of commenting about the OS in general in this thread. Apologies. Yes the thread will soon become cluttered with comments on Win 11 in general, whereas really it should be about tweaks and mods. As you say there are dedicated threads for general comments. @Enthousiast did state in the OP... Maybe the general posts can be binned to keep it tidy?
Yeah cuteee , I know i can reach network and audio settings with right click I just wondered if my windows installation is corrupted or not because left click does nothing By the way thanks for the answer
22000.51 with all updates (I think) - When I left-click of the audio icon, it brings up the volume bar/selector, along with a "edit quick settings" icon and an "all settings" icon, along with "night light", "focus assist", "connect", and "accessibility" buttons. (same as Win+A) When I right-click of the audio icon it brings up 2 selections to choose from, "sound settings" and "open volume mixer". When I left-click on the network icon it brings up the same choices as right-clicking the audio icon (in fact hovering highlights both simultaneously) When I right-click on the network icon it brings up "network and internet settings". Perhaps you haven't fully updated ??
mmm really interesting I have downloaded my 22000.51 iso from uupdump with all updates integrated and after installation windows could not find any new updates and it said "you are up to date"
For comparison, mine was an upgrade from 21390.2025 to 22000.1 to 22000.51. My 22000.1 iso was from UUP Dump. My 22000.51 iso was from WZOR and then afterwards WU added a cumulative update for NET 3.5 and 4.8 (KB5004123), a security update for Visual C++ 2008 SP1 (KB2538243), and a security update for Visual C++ 2010 SP1 (KB2565063) Hope that helps
The amount of people that are obsessed with "Refresh" is something that deserves a case study. This change may finally push people to do one. Really looking forward for any change or mod for this one. Very odd choice from MS.
not getting the point!!!... literally almost a whole page discussing build 22000 (and not Tweaks) do you not know about https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...2000-51-pc-fast-dev-channel-co_release.83722/ discussion page/thread
I would love if there was a way to increase transparency. It's nowhere near as transparent or "glass like" as Microsoft likes to show in presentations, and some promotional photos they shared. Seems like it should be quite easy to increase it since transparency already exists, but didn't see anyone share anything so it's probably not possible. ?
Is there a reghack to add COPY and PASTE to the right click menu? That would be very much appreciated!
There isn't transparency for explorer windows at all, it only exists in modern UI elements and taskbar (and as you noticed quite opaque). Which also means that if they would make it possible to increase transparency on those things, that the contrast with the 100% opaque explorer windows will become that much more pronounced. I was hoping they would bring transparency back for title bars, etc., but it looks like they will not.
I wouldn't mind explorer being opaque, but top bar to be more transparent than what it is now, Windows 7 had the same thing with Aero theme, explorer was white and everything around was almost completely glass like, and all opened programs stayed that way, now on 11 only the app in front is transparent while everything in the back turns opaque... oh well.
Yes, I mean title bars, etc. Inside explorer windows I don't mind it being opaque. Depth-perception is what it is about, and that is achieved by two things in the UI: transparency and shadow. It means they only applied transparency to modern UI elements, which was pretty much already the case with later iterations of Win10. EDIT: What's also weird is under Task View (multiple desktops), how that screen-wide bar is not made opaque (yet), whereas in the MS presentation it showed to be transparent. I don't know if that is an indication they are still working on making certain elements transparent, or not. Given how transparency in title bars on explorer was implemented so well in the WIn7 era (and that era hardware) they could easily make that work well now. In my opinion that should be their goal.
