@pm67310 You information is so complicated that nothing can be understood. Does it mean that you installed any updates and lost all the apps, or how do understand that sentence? And what should we do now?
hello i created an iso with uup dump, i choose windows 11 21h2 or 22h2 , the option to keep my application is not available upgrade from windows 8.1 Pro to windows 11 Pro, with uefi and tpm 2.0 iso unmodified
@pm67310 Windows 8.1 and Windows 11 apps and settings are completely different and you can't keep them in any way. It's simply not possible. The only thing you can keep is your personal files and folders. But personally, I would recommend installing your files somewhere else and completely cleaning your hard drive before doing this, then reformatting and checking again. Of course, if you don't have that option, you can try simply upgrading, but it can cause problems later, especially if you have an HDD instead of an SSD or NVMe m.2 hard drive. The HDD would definitely need proper control and complete reformatting, the short or fast format alone may not be enough to fix any HDD errors.
Thats EXACTLY the same problem I had when trying to upgrade to 22621.1. Must be a bug, as it seems 22621.160 this is fixed.
With the UUP dump 22621.160.1.3 ISO the same successful upgrade with all apps, settings and files kept.
I have no doubt people are upgrading fine to 22621.1 and keeping all settings and apps. ---- BUT -------- Its also becoming evident that there are a number of people also getting that option greyed out. So there is a problem somewhere, whether human error or a bug I am not sure. Going to download 22261.160 shortly and try again to see which.
If you check the picture at the OP it's blue (win 8.x), should be white, doesn't look like a win 11 setup to me.
ive never had that problem with my laptop anytime i upgrade cause i cant obviously wipe the SSD on the laptop itself cause wont show up in the option if i want to fresh install it cause its built into it always says nothing if i want to select it out of the 3 options my bad its coming from a Windows 8 version so dont mind this comment peeps
There is a long standing issue with Multilingual-User-Interface that got worse after 19041, not yet acknowledged because it's hard to replicate. System MUI gets somehow borked, despite every registry checking out. Using a W10MUI-altered media increases the chances of hitting this bug, tho it looks like even manually playing with the interface languages might trigger it. All upgrades will then fail. It might be broken beyond repair and you'll be waiting for a fix from microsoft forever, so it's worth a shot to: - revert whatever you've played with in languages - keep English (US), remove all others. Open Administrative Language Settings, Change system locale to English (US), Copy settings to welcome / new accounts. - in powershell (admin): Code: $MUI = Get-WinUserLanguageList; $REM = $MUI | where LanguageTag -ne "en-US";$MUI.Remove($REM); Set-WinUserLanguageList $MUI -Force reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\Language" /f /v Default /d 0409 reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\Language" /f /v InstallLanguage /d 0409 reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\International" /f /v Locale /d 00000409 reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\International" /f /v LocaleName /d en-US reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\International\User Profile" /f /v Languages /d en-US /t reg_multi_sz reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\International\User Profile\en-US" /f /v 0409:00000409 /d 1 /t reg_dword reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\International\User Profile System Backup" /f /v Languages /d en-US /t reg_multi_sz reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\International\User Profile System Backup\en-US" /f /v 0409:00000409 /d 1 /t reg_dword - reboot - then try again with an English (US) media.
Just wondering. Now we know this bug, and how to fix it, Many users may not be confident apply this fix. They may wait til the official upgrade in updates. If one has this bug, when we finally get the upgrade thru a Cumulative Update on 22000 systems, will that go thru fine keeping your settings, or will the update fail also?????
An Update I had three systems with this bug (greying out keeping settings with an upgrade). Its seems thats its definitely something in with REGION SETTINGS that sets it off. Did what was suggested on three computers, I just made sure every setting was in English - US, including time and apps. I did this manually. Well low and behold two of the systems then allowed me to upgrade and keep my settings and apps. Third system still has the bug, BUT working thru options. Light at the end of the tunnel.
