I have downloaded and installed the drivers I thought I needed. Two problem areas. default monitor is installed and I have not figured out how to install the lcd monitor I have not been able to access the Internet via my router.
SUCCESS! I found out which Ethernet card I have, got the proper driver for it, then installed the correct video driver and it all works. I can connect to the Internet and have the proper LCD screen. Thanks for all the help. It took me about 2 days of trying (this project was probably way over my head) but perseverance and some help form this forum and another paid off. Thanks again.
I took a look today at device manager and there is still something that does not have a driver. I attached a print screen of the list. Maybe someone can give me an idea of what is missing. The laptop appears to work fine. View attachment device_manager.pdf
A print screen of a question mark won't do you any help... Don't know about Windows 2000, but in Windows XP there is a Details pane that gives you the Hardware ID, something like "PCI\VEN_xxxx&DEV_xxxx" or "ACPI\xxxxxx". Right click on unknown device, properties, then check if there is a details pane.
Thanks much! It was my power management device that needed a driver. Downloaded it from IBM and now no yellow ? marks in the device manager. This is a great forum, thanks again.
I am beginning to think the copy of W2k and the updates at the Unoffical Sp5 for MS Windows 2000 site are flawed or lacking. I tried to add some software such as Foxit Reader, AbiWord, and the Iron web browser and get one of the following when I try to install the software. -Get Process ID could not be located in the dynamic link library Kernel32.dll -directory W could not be located in the dynamic link library Kernel32.dll -could not find something in dynamic link library gdiplus.dll -could not find entry point for free add info in dynamic library ws2_32.dll Did I miss an update? I downloaded MS Windows 2000 Unofficial SP 5.1.2195 at Major Geeks and the rollup 2.
To much software is not supported on Windows 2000. Reason most hardcore Windows 2000 fans have given up on it.
USP5.1 and UR2 won't help you with running the software because the two packages install files from the official updates only! You need to install UURollup (ENU) in order to be able to run (most of) those applications. As for my website, there are some problems at the moment because I'm now responsible for Windows 2000 Updates for HFLIP and have recently added the list to the site. The main packages should be still available to download without any problem though.
Just wanted to say thanks for the clean Windows 2000 ISO's with it been quite old i have never found a clean copy before visiting this thread. Cheers for the SHA1 hashes and ISOs, added to my collection of ISO's.
