For those that are having the same problem as I am, I ended up finding the solution through trial-end-error. You need to open up regedit and browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\pcmcia. Modify the value of the "Start" entry from "0" to "1". Works great for me !
