I just tried your latest release (2010-05-26), and it's still the same. No shutdown when DISABLE_BIOS_RW is 0. No problem to keep it set to 1 though.
tried this - windows 7 now hangs at starting windows tried this - windows 7 now hangs at starting windows. Cant do anything else. Any suggestions? Thanks
you should get a "Press F5 to skip" message on boot. Soooooo press F5 to get back into Windows and replace bootmgr with a clean copy, if you disabled the boot message, then you will have to boot from an install DVD press SHIFT+F10 and copy bootmgr from the DVD to your hard drive.
Try setting DISABLE_BIOS_RW = 1. With it set to 0 I had problems with shutdown on one of my desktop machines, and the same as you (hang on Windows Starting) on my laptop. DISABLE_BIOS_RW = 1 fixed both issues, so I'm currently running with it set to 1 on all my machines. No problems so far.
Just wanted to mention that bootmgr windslic version from 05-20-2010 works flawlessly on my multiboot configuration with every OS, but the later version 05-26-2010 makes XP boot hang with some weird white spots on black screen, although Server2003 and Vista and 7 boot fine.
Hello from Brazil...... i try to use it with UAC disabled...... in ADM mode...... with Norton disable....... all this things and just recivie this error: ERROR FALIED TO REPLACE BOOTMGR Please does anyone here can help me??? Certain for your attention.. thanks in advance... and hugs from Brazil
I deleted the 5-20-2010 version can you post it somewhere?, I did try the 5-26-2010 version in VMware and did not have any issues dual booting XP and Windows 7 so in theory it works, but what works in VMware does not always work in real life.
can you elaborate, I will fix any bugs that I can reliably recreate, but I will not buy any hardware to recreate the bug sorry.
Nope at the moment it works only on Windows 7 because my tool checks which OS and OS version you have.
