Good to hear this, now we will wait a bit more as Phazor will make his KMS activator 6.0 very soon....
Chew7 1.0 which soon will be released will "activate" Enterprise Editions! Chew-WGA 0.9 couldn't do this but the 1.0 release will be able to.
Of course it is never a bad thing to have alternatives, but why would one want to tamper with the activation system when the KMS Host is just like having your very own activation server? Wouldnt that be a little like.....i dont know.....forcing the door open with a crowbar even though you could just use the key in your pocket? Especially since the KMS Host is the only method that activates Windows without having to resort to tricks as far as the system itself is concerned. You know, tricks as in fake SLICs, leaked SLP Keys, leaked Certificates, hardware modifications, resident BIOS Table emulations, etcetera, all of which are not necessary that way...
I would use the KMS method, but I am not going to reinstall a whole Domain Controller just so the stupid 800700d errors will go away. I have sat and tried to reactivate dozens of times, the most being almost 30 times one time just to get the same error.
My personal thoughts of KMS Server activation is that it's to complicated to use for beginners and even a more experienced user like me + KMS clients have to renew their activation at least after 180 days which I don't feel to comfortable with. I just want to reinstall Windows, "activate" and be done with it. Sure DAZ Windows loader and Chew7 (I only use these) tampers with SLICs, SLP Keys and the activation system but hell it works like an charm and have never given me any problems, mainly because I use it on an machine which is offline at all times and not modified in anyway but at least I don't have to setup an KMS Server which have to be dealt with every 180 days or less? And I reinstall that machine quite often so setting up an KMS Server each time is to much of an hazzle. I'll guess what I'm saying here is that in this case taking the easy way out is actually worth it, the creators of these loaders is professionals and they have really made an awesome job.
Your program is awesome timesurfer, there is actually people who is absolutely horrified by using loaders to "activate" their machines and I can't blame them so your program is an superb second choice. But I'm an convenient person that trust Anemeros Chew7 and DAZ program based loader enough to install them and use them to the fullest, sure they tamper with the system but it's actually kinda harmless and a small price to pay to skip that annoying WAT technologies and Activation pest. They're free but also lifesavers because they save me so so much time and hazzle when you regulary reinstall Windows time by time.
I think that depends on how you interpret 'easy'. To illustrate my POV: My Enterprise image already contains the GVLK so there is nothing i need to prepare before or after installation except for setting the host machine name after the first boot. (Console: slmgr -skms localhost) All that i do to activate is run the KMS Host and click a bat with this content: Code: cls @echo off :ato cscript %windir%\system32\slmgr.vbs -ato pause goto ato Thats one click to start the Host, one click to run the bat, and another click to close them again. All in all a matter of seconds, and it only needs to be done twice a year. Still dont get me wrong here, im not saying that all the other methods arent worth consideration. On the contrary, i absolutely respect any and every effort done on behalf of the people who are fed up with forced activation, its just that i came to prefer this particular method for its simplicity, effectivity and genuinity...
Just a note to help others who run in to a specific error when attempting to use Phazor's v5.0 script. On my first attempt, I received the following message: "Activation Error: Code 0x8007232b. DNS Name does not exist." Here are the steps I took to solve the issue: Make sure the firewall is off. Launch a cmd window as Admin. Type "slmgr.vbs -skms 127.0.0.1:1688". Launch Phazor's script as Admin. Follow the steps in the script, skipping step #2. Type [Window key]+[Pause/Break key], and verify activation. (Or use option #6 in the script.) #3 above has been mentioned in other posts, but this is a step-by-step. By the way, the script references help pages. Where are these supposed to be? None were included in the archive I downloaded.
I don't really like the KMS route becaue it has to be redone every so often as in I like the permenat solutions out there even thou IR4 is a very good concept not even tryin to insult the brillant idea lol... RemoveWat I tried some of it earlier but now I'm pretty much at where I was a couple months ago with my own thing... I might try the loader out sometime because its never a good thing to try the samething for everything... the only down side is that the loader doesn't support the Enterprise edtions of stuff I think let me check that real quick...
Yeah, on some systems it seems to be necessary to explicitely set the port as well. I never ran into that issue myself during testing, but i will add the port bit in KMSA 6.0 just in case. (If i ever get to finishing it.) Its a sub-option of the Misc sub-menu. Just press 6 in the main-menu and then 5 and youll be right in the Help.
By the way, i dont know if i mentioned it yet but you dont have to use 127.0.0.1 or localhost. You can use any machine name you wish, just like localhost can be used in stead of 127.0.0.1 All you have to do is enter the name into the hosts file. Example: slmgr -skms MYCOOLRIG Add to hosts file: 127.0.0.1 MYCOOLRIG Thats all.
Ok I downloaded the rar file containing the KMS tool. But I don't see any help file? Where can I get that?
