I checked, the only way this can happen is when you start a standalone copy of the KMS Server executable with a name other than KMS.exe and then select option 3 "Run the KMS Server" in the menu of the app. The problem here is that the app itself starts the Server as 'KMS.exe' and therefore it checks only if a process with name 'KMS.exe' runs. If it does run it will say "KMS Server already running" and if it does not run it will start the server. Ergo: To avoid this error do always start the KMS Server via the app. EDIT: Addressed. Im glad to hear it worked for you. Yeah, ZWT did an outstanding job with this, i wish one of them were here so i could thank them personally. Its simply awesome how they managed to squeeze a complete timezone-independent KMS Server into a couple of kilobytes of code... Thank you, im glad to hear it worked for you too.
So did ZWT really make a portable KMS server in every sense, or did they hack the activation protocol and just reply to KMS activation requests in a manner that makes the client think the KMS server was real?
Now thats a very good question. Didnt even occur to me yet. I must admit i have no idea, but since it works perfectly either way i can live with that.
OK, i have replaced 4.1 with 4.2. I have also added some other stuff, see post with attachment for details. Just so nobody can say i did a sloppy job... (But thats really it now.)
That's what I've analysed so far, ZWT simulates a valid KMS server response. He has implemented a simply RPC protocol to listen on the KMS server port 1688, gets the request from the client (less than 300 bytes) and returns a valid response (less than 300 bytes too!). There seems to be no special precausions on this response from ms, so that it was "easy" to forge such a response. Great work ZWT!!!
No, the -ato cmd does not necessarily have to be run several times, i cannot confirm this. On the contrary, from my experience it is very rare that i have to repeat at all, and if i do, then it mostly needs only one more try. The cases where i have to repeat a second time are like 1%, and if this happens it is probably more Windowses fault than the Servers. Either way the app makes a repeat trivial as you merely need to press 2. Of course using a public server can be a nice alternative too if you trust its owner. PS @ x-5: ZWT is not a 'He', (as in one single person), ZWT is a well known scene team. They make all sorts of keygens and stuff which is why they are well known especially among gamers.
I am using Windows 7 Enterprise right now and I used RemoveWAT and everything is working fine even after the new WAT update from microsoft
Remove WAT does not activate a system. It zombiefies vital system elements so the OS cannot complain that it is not activated. That this could eventually backfire on you i suppose is understood. This thread is about activation, and you wont get a cleaner activation than with this KMS. Its just as good as a retail online activation via Microsoft.
My primary concern with this ZWT activation is that MS could blacklist the KMS extended PID, assuming the activator uses the same extended PID for everyone. But I totally agree that KMS activation is far safer, cleaner, and desired than molesting vital system files.
This is a concern of mine of any KMS method of activation, however: 1) Activating with KMS ensures you always have at least 1 rearm left, and rearming and entering the default trial key will result in being genuine 2) WAT does nothing to then prevent you from then reactivating with the initial source.
Hey Phazor, I have the following problem: "not an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. The system can not find the path specified." OS Win7 Pro russian edition.
is it possible to activate a Windows 2008 Standard server with this kms server?? I have tried a Windows 7 and Windows 2008 r2 virtual machines and in both works ok, but what about windows 2008?? Is it possible?? Thanks.
What version are you refering to? And when does this happen? I have re-tested all options and i could not trigger such an error. If you are talking about the app i made then the answer is no. See supported Editions. (EDIT: THX FreeStyler.) To use this with anything Vista based you will have to use the standalone and do everything manually.
