Dude I love you so much, you just made my day, thanks for all your hard work and god bless people like you, you truly are an angel dude! I can't wait for the final version. ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Note: I don't know if this is placebo or not but, when I first installed windows 8 the sound quality was much better then windows 7. I also read somewhere that the audio hardware is enabled now in windows 8 and you can have sound 32 bit sound up to 19200hz, but still i dont know if this is true or this only applies to metro style applications. So I just wan't to say that when I changed the explorer.exe and got the windows 7 explorer instead of 8, the better sound quality is not there, I dont know if it has anything to do with it or its just placebo. But I would you guys also test it urself and tell me what you guys think, but I prefer ofc the start button! Striker900!
At that point why not try to remove timebomb in 7989?? You maintain Aero, fast boot, explorer ribbon, new task manager! The only thing you loose is the new file transfer features. 7989 was home made ISO(sysprepped from HP notebook), but if you clean well, repack and patch so fine to remove timebomb and activate! Then this can be called a perfect Service Pack 2 for windows 7, or a perfect Windows 8 build.... I cannot manage to do it, it is just a tip for you Masters for an alternative solution to have all we are waiting for in RTM build
Beta 5 seems to not work for me, i install it, log off and it's still Metro. Beta 4 works fine. Win8 Pro x64 genuine from Dreamspark. Any ideas?
85 -90 % of people who gonna use this patch will be able to get thous files, average Joe not gonna try patching Windows files and regestry and will opt for the simple things like Power8 and Clasic Shell etc... this patch if for advanced users anyway... I think if its not to much work it might be a good idea making the patch to be able to patch b7989 explorer too... But it up to Tihiy, whatever he thinks is best... Also Tihiy u need a donate button !
no, but for some people its hard to get hold of exe from that build coz its no longer availible to download from MS or any other normal place
In fact, maybe if file checking is removed from his patch, maybe it will work already... ...joking but not far from truth BTW: Better is to patch b7959 x64 (Server, but can be used in client), because in b7989 MS already started to kill "user tile" feature (he moved it to start screen later)
OFFTOPIC: Nice AVatar, are u my brother? Anyway patching 7989 explorer.exe will not bring back Aero and may have some issues with non English Languages?
currenly it includes the two (x32 and x64) libraries of code of the Tihiy guy, but don't worry, I'll add to the modpack, I have mentioned and linked above, when all code will be mine.
can you please release a copy which is NOT included in a mod pack? I don't want any other mods. I just want the 'more compatible' explorer.exe to work in this manner. I'd like to see you release it separately, and then those of us who are capable can use it - and those who are not, can use the windows 7 one.
@moderate, the simple reason why NOT use explorer.exe from previous betas is - because it's buggy! It'll produce bugs thet will give Tihiy more headache, because before he fixes any bugs, he'll first need to figure out whether it's patchex or the buggy explorer that bugs come from. The file from build 7600 is perfectly stable, and it has to be - it's part of the OS people pay for. And in beta and pre-beta OS, it is place for the MS developers to play with files, try whatever they want and then choose the best version of what they've done. And I didn't try it (yet), but I highly suspect that explorer from aplha build won't work in RTM, just as in Windows 7 times, a file from 6801 didn't work in 7600 - and it shouldn't. Why carry on with this discussion, if we already have an (almost) working product?
Right then, as a full glass lover(as my theme in 7 section )the solid colors are old and outdated(XP era) in RTM are ugly and inconsistent Windows 8 no way for me, but your work guys is excellent, way to go at MDL!! At all, it is my evolution idea(the only thing i don't like in 7 is the logo ) Well done, as Moderate says, now there are two of us
Which is probably intentional, they have a vested financial interest in ensuring as many people use Metro as often as possible. They make money off every Metro app sale, the built in apps push you to Microsoft services for more sales, and they can make money off your viewing the advertisements in Metro apps. With the desktop they get none of that. They have every reason to make the desktop as undesirable as possible as long as the bare minimum of necessary functionality is there.
It is exact opposite, while legacy exp from W7 b7600 is quite incompatible with W8 b9200, those ones from W8M3 b7959 or b7989 perform much better and are much more stable. View attachment 17217
okay. so prove it to us. do as I said. release it as a separate patch. something people can try right now. or to quote myself directly before the drama took place:
