Not bad as it's still a beta Hoping that you add the aero theme for windows and applications that are open. Also hopping you add the aero windows taskbar.
@Tihiy Hi I used the latest version of your patch, the problem is the first time I tried it from desktop and now decided to move the folder to another directory but now the tray icons don't work properly anymore. How can I delete the icon cache manually? I remember that you wrote that you removed the options to reset cache from the patch exe but you didn't tell us where the new cache location is. Thanks
HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify7 Thx for reporting this issue.
Nice to see you like "metro", but why posting this opinion in different threads, where topic is about getting rid of this metro-crap...? regards
As far as i know there is only a slight difference in between these menu/bar, mostly a matter of configuration. So what would be the use of this...? regards
The new installer isn't that bad but I can not use my context menu shortcut to switch between the Windows 8 explorer now, it tells me there is a file missing, I think that even though people really want the start menu back, I think it is very important to be able to switch between having the start menu and the new Metro UI and Apps with the click of a button. Anyway I had to uninstall your new version and went back to the previous one, it works better for me.
Hmmm, setup file :/, so it is no longer possible just to patch explorer.exe without installing the whole thing?
There's a checkbox for portable installation. And there's no 'whole thing', just 3 files like beta 1. Installer/uninstaller/patcher is in the same executable.
Thanks for the new version...installer looks great I found a problem: i have your tool inside of my iso that is used to install Win8. This results in the fact that win7 explorer.exe has the atribute readonly set. Your tools should remove this attribute, as i get a black screen if explorer.exe hast the read-only attribuite set
BTW: a really nasty bug that results from using windows 7 explorer is, that you can not add a new user, as this is done using metro in win8 (what a crap the have built there....)
Fixed, reuploaded. You can. Run netplwiz.exe or add it via Family Safety or via Computer Management or net.exe.
