    Tihiy response to (Pwned tiring to crack StartIsBack Beta 1).

    Don't worry, guys, C&D letters will be sent the second i won't like BetaArchive actions.:D
    Everything can be cracked, even with hardware protection keys and poly-cripted protected code all over (recall Skype).

    What's more important is to make sure that license key and activation system can't be hijacked. I've taken care of that.
    Besides, StartIsBack will be cheap:D

    Stay tuned, Beta 3 will come 25/26. (Will it be BE PRIVATE ONLY ?).:confused:

    I have a question about StartIsBack.
    It says that it doesn't patch any files, and that it doesn't have any processes running - but also that it doesn't use any original microsoft files(explorer.exe from windows 7 for example)

    How exactly is this possible? Is it done via registry entries? config files changed? -Something- either -has- to be running, or it has to patch or change -something-

    I don't need to know the specifics of what values are changed, because I'm not trying to steal your idea or anything - but I would feel more comfortable knowing what's actually going on when using this.
    At least with Windows 7 Explorer, I know exactly what's happening.

    The Start Menu code still exists in Win8. He's simply "waking it up". Also the DLL is over 300k so plenty of room for code there to fix things up. That's about as basic of an example that can be given.

    @Tihiy

    Thanks for the Beta 3. Just one small glitch.. suppose configuration window is open & you right click on the start menu & click on 'Start Menu Properties', then it again launches the 2nd instance of the config window.

    I found the extra one can be deleted via OS and the cfg app just accepts it as gone. No errors or freaking out. So that's good. I'll have to remove any extra to keep the app professional. I don't need employees thinking they can start adding their kids face as a start button! :p

    Hey, whats wrong with that? JK

    Question: Why does this beta 3 allow the loading of the "new" start menu? the option is there to not "view" it, but it just seems to hide it. I would like for it to be disabled in whole. THANKS , AND AWESOME WORK..

    BTW: Wanted to show how beautiful this start button is....

    So, if I donate for this, I can get Start Is Back for free? I'll have $2 something in my PayPal once the funds become available through Ebay, and I might be interested in donating it :) I can't seem to find a donate link though (I don't think I saw it in the first 2 posts).

    StartIsBack looks and works great, but what about the possibility of skinning? Then it would be perfect.
