Tihiy: A couple of questions with regards to Ex7forW8:

    1. Does this work on Win 8.1 Pro (32 bit)?
    2. If yes, then does Metro (Modern) UI get loaded into memory thereby saving RAM?
    3. With "StartIsBack", does Metro (Modern) UI get loaded into memory?

    Thanks!

Ok, so how do you make the disabled shortcuts work again? Create new ones?

Hey, everyone!! Apologies fr the bump. If anyone is interested in using this with Windows 8.1, here's what I did.

Gather all necessary files and install as normal. When setup is done, DON'T switch your shell just yet.

    1. Go to the directory you installed it. (c:\windows\explorer7 for example).

    2. Right Click explorer.exe and choose Properties.

    3. Select Compatibility Tab and put a checkmark under Compatibility mode, making sure the menu says Windows 7.

    4. Check Run as Administrator and Click OK.

    5. Run ex7forw8.exe and switch the shell and log off.

    6. All should be fine!! :)

    Hope this helps!!

Edit on Wednesday: OK, so it won't fully work. You still get the Metro BUT the speed benefits of the Windows 7 shell will still be there. Weird because it worked once. Must've been my aintivirus,

Startisback is working fine to as you can disable the metro apps completely.
