Windows 7 Freezing During Startup

    Hi My laptop is not working fine I tried installing windows x64 & Windows XP SP3 x86 it will work good for two days after that it will start freezing during startup model of the laptop is Acer Aspire 5742Z please help me to solve this problem

    If I understood well, laptop is freezing even with different OS's installed. It freezes with Win 7 as well with Win XP.
    If that's the case it is obvious hardware error, and Startup Repair with Win DVD would not help.
    Beside the tools to identify eventual problems as pointed out by Mr.X and s1ave77, also, you could try:
    - remove the battery and start with power cord
    or
    - Start in Safe Mode. Open Device Manager and expand Batteries.
    Disable the entry "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery".
    Close and restart laptop.
    or
    - Bring the Laptop to service for cleaning (Air Blowing) :p
