No reason, you can integrate them ALL exept for the obvious "Not integratable to Offline image" IIS = Internet Information Services Integrate to installation media = Extract and copy to DVD LDR placeholders = Include these if you want to force the LDR file of the superseding hotfix to install MSQM = Microsoft Message Queuing Not integratable to Offline image = Self explanatory These cannot be integrated, you can install them during sysprep and capture the image (you can however integrate the MSP updates into .NET4) You can integrate all these but you dont need to integrate KB947821.System.Update.Readiness.Tool, and if you dont force LDR files with a script/tool you can skip the IE9 hotfix/update Integrating KB9x updates before KB2xx should suffice
So that hotfix can only be installed, after the installation of W7 SP1 I presume? The same applies to those addons: DirectX.End-User.Runtimes.(June 2010) dot.NET.Framework.4.0.30319 Silverlight So, I need to leave these out of the integration and install/update manually after the W7 installation from the new image Where within the image they need to be placed? I presume that will overwrite some/all of existing files. Hope RT7lite can do that for me, or will it be a manuall task? Still can't get my head around that LDR concept - is it about superseded updates that still need to be included somehow for integrity of future updates of the same 'line'? So I will do the integration in two steps 1) KB9x -> Apply and 2) KB2xx -> Apply. I presume RT7lite allows image manipulation several times, right?
You should read KB article how those hotfixes suppose to be installed, because some even go in to boot.wim and things like that... but bottom line is, they are not needed at all, they are used for example to fix installation/upgrade proccess and things like that. MS have to patch branches GDR and LDR, GDR branch is more tested and usualy all fixes you can get from WU are only from GDR branch. LDR branch is obviously less tested and can cause more problems, but it suppose to also fix more problems. To bump certain component in to LDR branch you need LDR only hotfix OR force it with update-bf.mum method.
Right, from what you guys said, I think I ll go with the following: - I won't be integrating the LDR folder at all. I will just do all the hotfixes found in the root folder as well as: IIS = Internet Information Services MSQM = Microsoft Message Queuing and maybe Integrate to installation media = Extract and copy to DVD (if I can figure out how - need to find a guide on this one) - Regarding KB9x and KB2xx update order - I ll see if I can set manually within RT7lite - otherwise I will have to do it in two steps, as I mentioned earlier
I can say this for certain... if you integrate the new IE9 build (the new KB982861), then KB2530548 isn't needed!
RicaNeaga Yes, it should work that way, if you do not care about LDR. However, you cannot force install the LDR branch, if you do not integrate KB2530548. The problem is that the new KB982861 does not have the LDR branch. Edit: Which component of M$ Office 2010 is updated by oleo-x-none.msp and xmleditor-x-none.msp respectively? Thanks.
Has anyone here esxperienced a slowdown of the internet speed when applying the latest Windows Update updates? Its all really strange, i applied the updates and things seemed fine, then gradually Internet speed and that got worse, have uninstalled a ffew programs today, uninstalled all flash players and plugins, and the recent upates. It seems to be back to how it was. Is there anything in the new updates which changes nything to do with the net etc?
Simply extract the files from the cab and it will be clear what you need to update on the DVD...in the case of KB2495879 its a bit more difficult, you have to mount boot.wim index #2 and copy the updated file into the sources folder, then if you want to activate the new obscure feature the new file adds you need to load the registry hive of boot.wim and edit/add a registry entry Code: HKLM\Test\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WDSTPTC\SSM (DWORD) AllowSSM 1 KB2495879 also applies to both DVD files and boot.wim and this is completely optional BTW forget KB2521168, not even I can figure out what to do with that sucker (most likely it does not apply to us)
You should use x86 DVD files and import the x64 image(s) into install.wim...so if you are updating the DVD files you should use the x86 cabs to update your media (same goes with boot.wim)
Just one more question. I use the latest sp1-u isos from msdn. This updates are previous so i don't need them, right?
That's the one I m also trying to prepare. But I think this entire thread is all about post-SP1 hotfixes, so everything here should be 'new' to your image. Somebody plz correct me if I m wrong!
Actually KB2469100 supersedes KB2523881 in that list Also KB2525332 in SoLoRs list is superseded by KB2522761 in this one. Although it doesn't seem like it, KB2550648 'The English (India) keyboard is not listed after you add the Rupee supplement to an English version Windows 7 image' updates DISM etc There are probably other superseded updates in SoLoR's list, but these are the ones I found quickly.
