All those office hotfixes are infact post SP1 hotfixes... my Office build now is 14.0.6106.5000... now i dont know if i would still upload msps seperatly, or just a pack because uncompressed hotfixes for x64 are 1.5GB....
well i do this are only en-us patches for full pro plus + proofing tools... but anyway there are only 2 more hotfixes for non english atm, one is for dutch excel and other one is for korean outlook if i rememeber correctly and they are not added. anyway i uploaded all office hotfixes now, maybe i missed one or two, because manually going thrue kb rss feeds for seperate office 2010 products sux ass and there is no comulative list for june yet...
Thanks for all the effort SoLoR just a quick question though... I was wondering whether you could put the SP1 update .msp files in a separate folder to the post-sp1 hotfixes, and label as such, otherwise there might be some confusion as to what is what
That isn't actually slipstreaming/integrating, the use of the 'update' folder just automatically installs the Sp1 update once Office is already installed. This has the same effect as installing Windows and editing the installation such that the updates are executed after Windows is installed. You cannot put the sp1 updates and the newer updates provided by SoLoR into that folder, because it won't install them in order. Even if it did, you end up with a sizeable installation disk! If you want to make use of the 'updates' folder, best wait for true (not user modified) Office 2010 SP1 media. With those, you can copy the SoLoR provided updates into the 'updates' folder. The 'updates' folder isn't inteded for service packs so much, its meant for all the individual updates like access-x-none.msp, excel-x-none.msp mso-x-none.msp etc. If you copy the new versions of these updates to the folder without SP1, they won't install either. Since installing Sp1 is a simple one step process anyway (as long as you have the installer files) anything else is unnecessary for now.
Does anyone know when the integrated iso for Office 2010 SP1 is coming out? I realized the above is perhaps not very practical for most people. It sort of works for me because I only install a very limited number of Office 2010 apps (Word & Excel most of the time) and have a separate folder with script in which I place the .msp's (as these change a lot, so I don't want to integrate them into any iso).
burfadel What would you suggest for proper installation of M$ Office 2010 SP1? From what you have just said, it has to be performed in 2 steps, right? Step 1: Copy SP1 msp files into Updates folder and install M$ Office 2010. Step 2: Manually install all post-SP1 individual updates.
I don't mean to make it sound like I was complaining or anything, just trying to make a valid point it would help people out I think, and also greatly reduce the bandwidth requirement in the repository since people will only need to download in most cases the main list plus the individual language file that is valid for their Office if non-English Thankyou for your time SoLoR, and great work with the repository!
Such an awesome idea burfadel, separating the sp1 msp's because they are not likely to change and the langs from the hotfixes is brilliant, sorta like he already does with the Windows 7 hotfixes...if you have sharepoint designer folder, if you have visio. etc, etc.
Please note the following in the Microsoft update list: 544025 Description of the Excel 2010 hotfix package (cel-x-none.msp, graph-x-none.msp): June 28, 2011 Its meant to read: 2544025 Description of the Excel 2010 hotfix package (Excel-x-none.msp, graph-x-none.msp): June 28, 2011 The link also takes you to 544025 (without the 2 in front) which of course doesn't exist. I think Microsoft has a requirement that there must be at least one error each time they release these Office updates!
hi, thx burfadel for all these infos. I was thinking about something ... : Couldn't we create a 7z silent install that we could launch at the end of the office install in unattended mode (setup.exe /admin). I have create a msp in this admin panel to pre-select the office components i want and don't want and i think there is a way to "launch" a batch... the batch could be be like this : - 1st batch : 7z sfx installer could install the known files of SP1 (a fixed 7z, and could by the same way reduce the iso size) - 2nd batch : could check a folder like your actual office installer batch, and install every msp that are in here ... (maybe in a different folder than ...\updates, maybe a ...\hotfix folder, to don't mess with the update process during install). the new updates could be simply be put in this folder to create a up-to-date iso. I don't know if my point was clear, (i'm french so my english isn't perfect), but if someone have understand what i mean, i think it could be a great way to deal with all those update/sp1 msp ...
