7-zip is an EXCELLENT compressor, I don't understand what your problem is. I always use Ultra -> LZMA2 and it has much better compression than either WinRAR or WinZip.
7-zip compresses far better than Winrar or Winzip, something is definitely being done wrong! Latest version currently 9.22 (9.20 'stable') Archive format --> 7z Compression level --> Normal / Max / Ultra Compression method --> LZMA / LZMA2 Dictionary Size --> 128MB / 192MB / 256MB Word size --> 64 (actually setting fb=73 under parameteres may say a few extra bytes over a fb of 64. Solid Block Size --> Say 4gb if not higher No other options. Even older versions work perfectly fine. If its still not compressing as well as winrar or winzip, then there is definitely something wrong on the computer! 7zip can also compress to .zip format, and that, although inferior to 7z format, compresses better than winzip to the zip format. You can't compare 7-zip/winzip/winrar to imagex, since imagex is designed for a specific purpose and to treat the files and archive in a special way. Setting the archive format to 'wim' in 7-zip then saying imagex is better, as is winrar and winzip is completely inappropriate, since 7-zip only supports 'store' for wim archive format. 'store' means no compression! and since winrar and winzip don't offer this feature you can't compare it to the way they compress, since its 7-zip and LZMA/LZMA2 which is the main, everyday part of 7-zip, just like setting it to RAR for winrar is normal and not 'zip', etc.
Kb2534111 Do I need to integrate KB2534111 on a Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (refresh)? Is it ok if I already did? Some hotfixes are for Dot Net Framework 4 like: KB2443643 KB2504602 Do I need to Sysprep Windows 7, Install Dot Net Framework 4 and capture the image before integrating these updates? or I can integrate these Hotfixes and install Don Net Framework 4 later on sysprep. Sorry for asking, I'm new here.
Its OK if you integrated KB2534111 again The hotfixes for .NET4 you should integrate those MSP's into the installer to save install time, if there is a hotfix of the same name for Windows 7 that you can integrate with WAIK those are not meant for .NET4, they are meant for 2.0, 3.0 or 3.5
True. A lot of the time when computers have bad RAM or somehow the RAM situation is unstable it will mess up your archiving. But maybe you just need to reinstall your PC if it has been ages Snuffy
Guys, there are a pack with all vcredist(from 2005 to 2010) which installs all packages automatically?
From the screenshot it looks to have 2008-->2010 runtimes. Frankly i hate the runtimes. Many programs require specific runtimes. So i have to install bunch of old stuff. I'd just like to install the 2010 and be done with it.
Integrate Solor's Hotfixes Using Dism to integrate solor's Hotfixes to both Windows 7 64bit & 32bit ISO on Windows 7 64bit Host Computer (with waik). .When I installed the Windows 7 32bit, all are not updated including IE8 supposed to be IE9. Checked the ISO size is bigger But for windows 7 64 bit, no problem. Do I need to use Windows 32bit host computer to integrate updates for Windows 32bit ISO?
Solved. Sorry, my fault. I didn't notice the index no of ultimate is different in 64bit(index:4) and 32bit.(index:5). Thanks anyway. Is it possible to integrate all updates into index 1 to 5 at the same time or I really need to do it one by one?
If anyone is unfamiliar with the process of extracting the .msp from the updates referenced above, it is done like this: office2010-kb2553092-fullfile-x64-glb.exe /extract:<location>
