HAL=v6.1.7601.21725 Thanks I used it to remove all superseded Updates and then Installed all the new ones using burfadel's Install script. All's well so far.
KB2556532 was the only suspicious update that was considered needed for my build by Microsoft after a complete reinstall using a custom windows 7 toolkit x64 build with all your suggested updates from 21.08.2011; probably it's another windows update mistake.
This one showed up on my system too. I have KB2566205 hotfix installed with newer files than KB2556532, but that does not satisfy WU. Looking at the hotfix, there is no mention that the fix applies to Win 7, only Windows Server 2008 R2. I wish I knew what WU looks at when detecting a fix as present or not. Apparently higher file versions aren't enough.
@SoLoR Afer checking a few files due to a recent post about usbstor.sys in the SP1 USB driver thread, noticed that KB982018-v3 has usbstor.inf and usbstor.sys in it (old versions), as does the relevant KB2581464. I noticed in the list you also have KB2496290 as a placeholder, which should be unnecessary if you have KB982018-v3 installed first then KB2581464. Likewise with Windows-Storport, KB982018-v3 includes that too, yet there is KB2511500 as a placeholder for KB2528357-v2. However, that said it could be that the files aren't updates properly with the earlier updates which prompted the post in the USB driver bug thread in the first place?
KB982018-v3 has both ldr and gdr files so it cannot be used as a placeholder to force the installation of the ldr branch of the following hotfix (even though sometimes in some hotfixes there are "newer" files in the gdr folder vs ldr)
Please could anybody give an old fart an idiots guide to integrating updates into win 7 media thanx in advance
I might be wrong but I think KB2550978 has been replaced by KB981156v2 therefor KB2550978 should be moved to LDR placeholder.
hm... why should machine.inf hotfix have anything to do with Windows-TerminalServices-RDP-WinStationDriver ?
KB981156v2 contains both machine.inf and Windows-TerminalServices-RDP-WinStationDriver as you can see below : amd64_machine.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.21772_none_187fb13feea075a4 amd64_microsoft-windows-t..dp-winstationdriver_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.21772_none_a9e24c4c04f22484
