Not entirely sure... but who cares about windows update when you have access to this repo, anyway But it'd be different if you use this for work related things, of course... Plus, a couple of days hence another update will be out, and then WU start again... etc... there is never the perfect time... or always...
No, there are no critical updates in the ldr placeholder directory they are purely optional to push the ldr branch of a hotfix in the main update folder (wu may ask erroneously for 1 or 2 updates but thats a mistake)
@ sid_16: Sorry, I completely missed your post back at me. I guess I didnt believe you would reply If you equate being aware of something with thinking about something, perhaps. Very Descartes to equate existing with thinking. Maybe thinking is merely the mental juggling of symbolic forms, that in themselves refer to realities but are not those realities. The question then is if it is possible to be directly aware without the function of thought. Just like you can have a (limited) awareness of smell without much filtering of thoughts (especially smell as it works directly upon gland system), likewise we may be capable of direct awareness of a non-sensory nature, that transcends the symbolic and indirect process of thought. The capacity of thought to embrace a total awareness that includes opposites and gradations is perhaps a misnomer in itself. As the thought process is relational in nature but also has a focal quality to it, it is not as much an embracive or total state of awareness, but rather a process. The feeling aspect combined with memory gives one the background or sense of totality while one thinks, which gives rise to a sense of continuity and scope, or 'wholeness.' Yet, it is not the merely thought that does this, but a number of faculties combined. Still, it seems impossible to develop this without any 'whole' or implicitly comprehensive awareness with which those synchronized faculties can align themselves. This is what is the mystery. But I'd say mystery defined as transcendent but not unknowable. If, as some suggest, 'mystery' is per definition something that cannot be known, then I would accept that definition regarding the intellect Scientists will say that the evolution of thought ran synchronous with the development of language. So if you say that every person who communicates constitutes they have belief, I would say yes. Having 1 billion people believe something vs only 1 person believing something, does not make something true or untrue. Meaning, if someone formulates sensory input into a mental belief (cognition), it is not different in nature at its core than the collective, shared belief systems that a culture manifests. So social belief system and personal belief system share a very wide common ground. Cliches are cliches because they share such a common ground Perhaps you imagine there to be a difference where in reality there is not? That's not a bad statement at all But yes, knowledge that leaves one impotent in life is a burden. Purely intellectual philosophy generally has pretty much proven itself to be such.
today... its not patch tuesday anyway so why would i wait? anyway all win7 hotfixes where posted already i think... there is 3 or 4 .net 4.0 updates as well... ill sort them later. edit: everything suppose to be updated now.

No need to feel sorry,I'm glad to see someone from this technical forums have the philosophical insight to answer the unanswerable question. I think, therefore I am. Or conversely, I am, therefore I think as you wish to call it. When we are awake we are conscious and when we are asleep it is our subconscious or unconscious at work- however, some problems: I know people who say they can control their dreams ( subconscious)- they say they are conscious. But I take that somewhat skeptical outlook, because many including I lack such powers. The subconscious might be all there is to thinking. When we say /think /do, we are the resultant of the subconscious at work- it is all a process. Rest I'll reply later in my spare time. thanks, sid_16
Sir Roger Penrose the renowned physicist is one scientist who has made an attempt to understand the nature of consciousness and human mind. In one of his books he describes some experiments done by euro-surgeons during brain surgery on humans (with their permission) and the results are really startling. Conscious awareness of an event occurs about half a second after the actual event but we always feel our perception is spontaneous. That means that the time we perceive or feel is actually delayed by half a second from the actual time of occurrence but we are tricked by our consciousness to believe that they were simultaneous. Then our reaction to that event takes about 1 to 1 ½ seconds from perception to action. If that is the case how are we able to play cricket / soccer or other games? The batsman would get clean bowled by the first ball. Not only in cricket, we would get clean bowled from life itself pretty fast. If language is a form of communication, then thinking itself is a form of communication to oneself. But the question is language essential for thought? Or is thought prior to and independent of language? It is possible for you/ us to consciously construct a thought, or line of reasoning, within your own head using language as the building blocks. But it is also possible for an idea to occur to you rather in the way of an instinctual urge, or feeling, which you subsequently clothe in language and thereby render articulate to yourself.
How does one go about justifying the reliability of the senses? If you appeal to any knowledge gained by the senses you’re begging the question. If you assert the truth of the reliability of the senses, but can not justify or give evidence for it… guess what? Faith
Experiencing truth / reality Our brain tells us what we feel, what we see, what we smell, all of it... Everything that we experience e.g (experiencing a pen or the existence of a computer infront of me where I'm writing my post in the MDL forums, is still an experience) is my brain's interpretation of what my senses are relying to me. Color means nothing to those who cannot see, texture means nothing to those who cannot feel or musics means nothing to those who can't hear . (And never saw, never hear or never felt) I'm not saying that the pen or the computer or the music is just a figment of my imagination. I'm saying that how I see/experience it is a construct of my mind based upon the information it receives. We don't see with our eyes, but we "see" with our brain, all that our eyes do is collect the light then the rest is done by the brain .
