The 'Windows Hotfix Repository' of SoLoR's contains all available non-superseded (that means it does not contain updates whose changes have been included in a newer update). The Windows Server Update Service (WSUS) contains only the general release updates, including those for Server 2008 R2 that aren't in the repository (since the repository doesn't include Server 2008 R2 specific updates), pretty similar to Windows Update repository. What this means is, there are a great number of valid updates in the repository which aren't in WSUS. The updates in WSUS that are also 'applyable' to Windows 7 are included in the repository (or a newer version exists in the repository) but not all the updates applicable to Windows Server 2008 R2 are included in the repository. I hope that makes sense! Basically: - if you are running Windows 7 and want a really update to date system, use the repository - if you are running Windows Server 2008 R2 use the repository, and then the KUC updater for the remaining Server 2008 R2 updates - if you just want a standard up to date system according to general release updates (WSUS or Windowsupdate), then use WSUS/Windowsupdate If someone can explain that better, which I am sure is possible! please do so!
@burfadel, is it possible for u to add option to install only updates that nessary for office? i miss this in the script
@komm, above posted links are dead. this is the error -->The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
links to 2654347 now also working for me (placed in my updates for repo folder) 2654347 supersedes 2605597
I think it is not a good idea to run a temp cleaner after every boot. Especially if you install programs you should disable that. It depends on the time the temp cleaner runs. If it runs after logon (in the autostart group) there should be no problem. But if it runs under HKLM the cleaning could become active before a former program installation finishes. For that reason I always clean my temp folder manually, so I always know what if have done before. Also a on the files in the temp folders is good advice.
3 new updates 2650146 supersedes (nothing) [2523887x86 is superseded by 2610379] ms released this update for x86 8 months after the x64 release  (closes a "update is missing" in my list) 2661663 supersedes (nothing) as usual: can be found in my http:\\mediafire.com\win7hotfixlist folders
komm, you are great at finding updates- thanks for your hard work! For your lists, it looks like 2650146 does partially supersede 2518869 & 2661663 partially supersedes 2600484.
SoLoR scans on Sundays and updates his list on Mondays plus the following day is is patch Tuesday, so my guess is beginning of next week
This Tuesday is patch Tuesday. Like I said earlier about how Microsoft seem to be releasing the bulk of the hotfixes now, its probable Microsoft will release a big batch of updates sometime in the next week or so... If SoLoR is currently around, not sure whether he will do a scan today (Sunday) or wait until after patch Tuesday.
