Well if everyone have issues ill just dump it... or move it to additions since it was remvoed from WU anyway... but my guess is it should be installed in seperate pass then the other updates, i however did not try this yet... ill probably do that tomorrow if ill get around to reformat.

Integrating KB976902 in a separate pass worked for me.

Do we still need KB674101 when integrating KB976902?

Most likely we dont, i didnt even notice this update... when i saw "servicingstack" for sp1 i just assumed there wasnt any servicingstack before :) this might be real issue about this update btw... 2 different servicing stacks being integrated in the same pass...

Also one other thing i wanted to post like a month ago but i didnt... If someone is integrating Windows.Identity.Foundation you need to integrate Hotfix in the seperate dism pass AFTER you apply it or it doesnt get applyed properly, dism does not error out or anything, it just doesnt get applyed... i assume its same also for all VPC hotfixes (i never applyed VPC in to my iso since im using virtualbox anyway).

The reason behind this is because when integrating KB974405 and KB2159360v4 in the same pass windows processes KB2159360v4 before it has processed KB974405 (2 has a higher sort order than 9) however if you rename KB974405 to KB1974405 or any other name that causes KB974405 to get processed first then you can integrate both in the same pass.

Yes because the hotfix begins with the number 2 it wants to integrate it before the one that starts with 9 (its the same for the VPC hotfix that beggins with 3)

What I do is I create two folders, Updates1 and Updates2...In the first one I put all the KB9xxxxx updates and in the second I put the rest "oddly" named hotfixes so they dont get applied first because they start with 1, 2, 3 or 6 and I use this command to integrate

    Code:
    for %i in (1 2) do dism /Image:\mount /Add-Package /PackagePath:\Updates%i

I just checked KB674101 can be in fact removed if you install KB976902, however this is only viable when you integrate them in to install dvd since servicingstack updates cant be removed normal way... also i also had problems with integrating KB976902 in to install dvd, only way it worked was if i integrated KB976902 as a last update.

So even if we remove KB674101 we still have problems integrating KB976902 so integrate this update last no matter what?

yes as soon as you integrate KB976902 other updates fail to integrate until (i assume) you commit image, so integrate KB976902 as last update and everything works fine.

im also testing those 2 .net updates that keep poping up on WU and are not needed with Windows6.1-KB979900-x64-EXPRESS.cab and Windows6.1-KB983590-x64-EXPRESS.cab, this two suppose to be "fake" updates to convince WU that they are installed... ill see how it goes in about 2 hours since i need to redo whole image again and then reinstall...

edit: also few new updates comming tomorrow... one of them is pretty funny KB2293330 that applys only to some HP notebook, however you can install as .cab and get new batmeter.dll :)

Well, at least we know not to integrate and/or install these. The build I did without KB976902 (and without 2260913) had no problems whatsoever, and the install resulted in one of the smoothest/fastest installs to date so I feel good about the other updates as they stand right now.

KB976902 breaks my install; I get a .."cannot apply unattend settings from offline servicing..." fatal error right in the middle of "applying updates" stage in setup, so, it's a bad boy. LOL

It does indeed install without issue on a live system-I did that before attempting to sliptream and install, but, because M$ has removed it I am more incined to wait a bit now to find out why. Theoretically, KB976902 should slipstream without issue in the same fashion as KB674101-both do basically the same thing-one "newer" than the other; n'est pa'?

if anyone still have KB976902 on live system try to use dism with disabling features on "online" image... this specificaly didnt work for me and imo if one thing that we know of doesnt work, then you can just wonder what else could be wrong. We should just stay away from KB976902 since its obviously meant for SP1 anyway.

I do not know why but some recent IE8 updates has caused this problem:
    1. Favourites do not appear in drop down. But they are there. If I put a favourite that was missing in the favourite bar, IE asks whether I want to overwrite that.
    2. On a random basis, when opening IE8, it starts off with all the config tools, would you like to make it default, search suggestions, etc. At the end, it asks whether I want to import bookmarks. Gives only firefox even though chrome is also installed. Fine with me as my bookmarks are largely the same across all 3 browsers (IE, FF, Chrome). Strangely, it imports the favourities but again the same problem as 1.

Although I rarely use IE8 except for Lotus Notes, can someone please tell me the solution to this.

    SP1 RC is available

is it better to install and after to continue with the updates or is better to wait and just stay with the updates?

    thanks ;)
