FWIW, I haven't heard anything from him about the batch of updates I sent. As burf said, maybe he'll start updating on Sunday.. No new Office updates have been released (post 2012-02-16). SoLoR's kept the Office repo updated and current.
If that is the case, M$ will buck the trend of releasing bulk M$ Office 2010 hotfixes every 2 months. The last significant numbers of hotfixes was stated in Office 2010 Cumulative Update for December 2011, KB2639884. I wonder why such is no longer the case. ____ @McRip Thank you for your contribution. If you cannot post links, state it in such way: hxxp://hotfix.cesidian.info. We would understand it.
My router died. Had to get a new one and then I had to configure all the mappings in my network. It was the hell...
Hey Burf' View attachment 14057 Tried option 3 in 24d and it silently fails to install all updates-my repo cache current to today. It pops up xx updates installed, update not applicable....etc. no reboot required-but, reboot is required and it installs the xx number of updates until the one it flags as nonapplicable. I divided up the 301 cabs into groups of 50 to try and narrow down the problem updates, but, it flagged nearly half as nonapplicable, so, I gave up on that. Further, if I run from my repo directory undivided, it starts with the highest number first; ie:Windows6.1-KB2675469-x64 and down. If I divide the cache into 50 groups and run 24d from the root of each 50 cab folder it starts with the lowest KB number in each folder. If I run option 1=no worries, all install; plus, they will all integrate offline without error. I logged one attempt and attached them here for ya' in case it helps.
Personally, I don't think he wants to do it anymore. Too much time and energy for too long and probably tired-he has a life; just thinking out loud.
It shouldn't start with the highest number first... the command uses 'dir /b', so its weird it does them in reverse order. In terms of it not working... I have no idea! it worked for me in local testing, and had done since test2, so I don't know whether others have encountered it... I'll look in to it! In terms of SoLoR's updates, it could well be he wants a break from it, maybe a joint 'venture' with, for example, Komm, may be a suitable alternative?
I just completed another fresh install and 24d-option 1- started from the lowest KB number and installed all no worries-the only difference I did not install the AMD Core Parking updates until last after a fresh reboot. This should not make any difference because I run Intel. So, I just don't know...never had any concern like this before or since-an unexplainable anomoly-PC upset with me maybe. I did not try option 3-50 and autoreboot. Komm's help would be nice-that's up to him, but, in the end anybody will tire of it over time and want to pass the "torch"; a lot of work pouring over all the updates and coming up with packs or lists such as SoLoR or Komm; time will tell I guess...nice while it lasted.
can any forum member send him a message to solor and ask him if he has stopped working on updates? so we don't have to rely on him and it's clear for everyone
Anyone with the expertise and willingness can step in at any time, and you can even have parallel efforts. But to talk about SoLoR and his efforts as unreliable when it has been a mere 9 days that he has not been able to update the repo due to time constraints, is going a bit too far for my taste. In other words, if you're trying to piss him off you guys are doing a nice job
