With hotfixes you definitly keep more "up to date" win7 + you get feature fixes until SP1 goes RTM... however SP1 RC is less messy + it gives you new features (like RemoteFX) that most of us does not need anyway. Ill keep with hotfixes until SP1 RTM comes.
KB2413668 : Description of the Office 2010 hotfix package (Oartconv-x-none.msp, Oart-x-none.msp): October 26, 2010
BTW can you people check if you have bunch of random folders (CLSID kind) in Users/<user>/AppData/Local... Im geting 2 empty directorys made there exactly every 12hours... i assume some app checks for updates and doesnt clean up, im trying to figure out which one...
Nothing of the sort here either SoLor-fresh install all in to Oct 31; with that which I PM'd you about.
Confirmed, two empty folders in the Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp folder create around 2.5 hours ago. Its has 8-4-4-4-12 characters in the names. The set (the 8) appear on mine to be just numbers (I think it just worked out that way) as the rest are hexadecimal. I also have a file created around 80 minutes later in the Users\user\AppData\Local folder thats named using the same 8-4-4-4-12 character format, being of a completely differ number to the folders though, and the first 8 being hexadecimal as well. It would indicate its linked to the temp folders. The file is 35kb in size, and in notepad (with word wrap off), amongst the random mess it seems to be a table, with the words 'auds' and 'vids'. Going on the natural assumption that 'auds' refers to audio, and 'vids' to video, I'd suggest its media related. Maybe KB2284742?
well i tracked this issue for me down to windows live 2011. Not sure why it happens yet... but today i installed everything on seperate partition and then go install software one-by-one chechking when that folders starts to apear... and its after im runing messanger in the background.
@burfadel The nice simple tool does what it is supposed to very well I think, so, personally I like it just the way it is.
@ burfadel nice job on the installer. The .msu as cab install works much quicker. SoLoR has done a nice job keeping his Repository updated so that helps out alot.
SoLoR can only update the list if there are updates available that are effectively newer than other updates already in repository. Some updates may be available from Microsoft to fix a completely different error to those fixed by another update, but have the same files with newer versions. Basically, the later files can't be updated by the patch that would make those files older, which is why some apparently 'new' hotfixes aren't added to the repository. Just released are updates, the only ones valid on a fully updated system is the Outlook filter for Office 2010 (office 2007 may have different updates), and the malicious software removal tool. Those that have MSSE 2.0 beta installed, there's a new update v2.0.522.0 (a complete installer) available through Windowsupdate, I'm sure SoLoR will add the exe installer to the MSSE folder when he does his next update.
yes... however mse 2.0 is still broken if you have idevice... new network protection that mse have still breaks connecting itunes to idevice so you cant sync anything unless you disable network protection first... its wierd i reported bug like 2 months ago, they even removed it from connect and its still not fixed... i wonder if this is because i have jailbroken my iphone and mse somehow detects that...
