btw, all good! Thankyou for the support members on here give this community. It's like anything in life, its appreciated by a great many, but you only hear from those that are least appreciative (I'm not naming them!). I think people should realise nobody is forcing them to use such services provided by others. Its also hard to sound like you're not criticising at times, like about where I mentioned the missing updates, but that is intended, like many other comments, as constructive feedback . However, changing a few words around and it becomes criticism! I did however politely (this time) criticise Microsoft for their decision on the Windows 8 interface. I hated the concept of getting rid of the start button - and still do - but I can understand why. If you install numerous programs, after a while it becomes excessively large with a stupid amount of folders with maybe one item in them. You don't need uninstall links etc in those folders when you have the control panel! If you still aren't happy with something, don't whinge and complain that you aren't going to use it because 'you don't like LDR updates' or 'I just want to use WU updates' etc. Likewise, don't complain about Mcrips server and apps, Ricktendo64's stuff, Komm's stuff, my stuff etc., but do feel free to state any issues you may have, we're glad to help! Remember we're here providing our own time out of good will! A good example of someone who was very heavily criticised for their work is Fakefactory for his cinematic mod for Half Life 2 (now at version 11.05, new one soon). That is a whole game conversion, it completely transforms Half life 2, HL2 Episode 1 and 2 into basically a whole new game graphically. People were essentially complaining that it was too good! and the barrage of complaints meant he had to basically make it less widespread so only those that want it know where to go get it The criticism has died down a lot now, but still. He is also quite happy to receive constructive feedback despite this, which is good. Someone within Microsoft must have given constructive feedback (bad that it is) to do away with the start menu completely, whereas a redesign of the principle like wrote in the other thread would be a much better idea. Anyways, this may seem off topic, but it is kind of on topic. Basically if you find an error with something, don't be afraid to speak up! Issues won't get fixed unless they're known about, and the people behind the program etc will be appreciative because they can better their product or service. Just do it nicely! For instance, the small bug I fixed in the installer (haven't uploaded it yet as just checking the WUSatisfy stuff) relates to the installation of the servicing stack update if no other updates are installed. That error must have been there for a couple of versions but I didn't come across it until I reinstalled Windows 7, since it only appears if the servicing stack update isn't installed.
Thanks for confirming this... I have been experimenting with different methods and tools for keeping my folders in sync with the various servers and I thought it was me...
I agree. Especially leave out KB947821 as it's a tool and should really be downloaded and run when nessesary. Granted, i run it monthly after installing updates but not everyone does. But overall im very pleased that McRip uploads new packages ~1 day after patch tuesday. Those that want up to date repo can always use some sort of synchroniser (like HTTrack etc). Tho im not sure how the server responds to some program trying to download entire folders from there. Generally it is not good practice to overtax servers like that as it causes several issues.
Thanks, I took a look in there, I think you might be right There were several updates in there I didn't actually have either. The updates missing from the main folder weren't in there though.
Persuaded. Next month, after Patch-day, only the main folder and IE9 updates will be in the 7zip file. Everybody who wants more has to download the rest of the Addtional folder, like IIS updates or something like that. Well, I would not recommend any of the synchronizers because the last days I had some heavy overloads on the server. According to the log files complete folders have been downloaded. But it is up to you. The last 8 days there have been around 75000 downloads of updates only. That's a new record. I was pretty much surprised. I didn't know that this kind of service would make such a hit. But don't worry about it... I would like to thank everybody who supports me so much. We are all one great team here. Thank you.
I sysprepped kb2693391 and left kb2545698 out to be integrated or installed later figuring this will satisfy the order of install required. I sysprepped KB's 2533552, 2693391, 2603229 in my base image which never changes-it is all customized etc. exactly the way I want it. Last night I integrated 2545698 along with all the rest from komm's latest to my "base" image. Just finished a fresh install, again for the umpteenth time, , and all is good. I should have specified in my original post all my problems occurred on a live system with KB's 2533552, 2693391, 2603229 sysprepped, all the others using Burf's Installer For Windows Updates V26b in autoreboot mode before komm posted his latest-trying things out; 2545698 was installed in correct sequence on the live install-just a nightmare of a hotfix! @Burf', one thing I notice using your installer command file is it never starts at the lowest, oldest or top of the update repo' (ie: 9xxx, 22xxx, 23xxx etc.), but rather, at the middle (ie: 26xxx + 50, 29xxx + 50, then, 23xxx +50 and so on) and carries on in no specified order in autoreboot mode for the balance of the 300+ updates; not sure if this matters or is by design. @komm for some reason, KUC always wants to remove KB2603229, installed in my base sysprepped image, in the remove command created when I run KUC to save a new updated wim. KUC then reinstalls KB2603229 after a fresh install with all current updates integrated; is this by design due to some compatability issues with this update already installed or....? Thanks all,
Rick glad you sorted it out however I think you were doing it backward since you were trying to integrate KB2693391 before KB2545698 which should be the other way around based on KUC's FAQ.
komm, I can use your script "Update_LDR" when I want? In fact, it's not required that the script is on WU folder and updates is on WU\LDR folder? Thanks EDIT: No, I must change the "path" in the script But the "update_LDR" script installs only the updates "LDR", if there are updates only "GDR", they are not installed? Right?
@Burfadel I noticed that too ... is it by design? And thank you very much for your hard work Burfadel, Ricktendo64, McRip and Komm
Using a combo of McRip and KUC my latest integration is almost perfect... and it will be once I correct a few minor errors I made... BIG THANKS to ALL of you!!!
English is my native language-there's the problem, now I have to learn how to read.... I'll make sure to change my configuration-off to sysprep we go. Thanks very much. I probably never would have saw that one thinking I had it right already.
Sr McRip can you add a IE8 hotfix in you page? Thx! PD: I created a new dvd image with your hotfixs but, some hotfix cant integrate to offline img. these hotfixs KB2699988 IE8 KB2544521 IE8 KB2598845 IE8 KB2510531 IE8? KB2644615 KB2676562 KB2547666 KB2703157 Im use a original MSDN x64 iso. Thx
