This is a mandatory update. As you can see by the text in the description, MS will update this item regardless of your Windows Update settings. MS were forced to issue this update, after a virus was found to be exploiting a hole in Windows Update's security. So in other words, expect this update, and don't worry about it. Your install will continue to work as before.
I don't know if McRip ever posted a DL link to the folder "Satisfy WU"., but here is his take on the subject
As I said a few days ago, I would like to know the updates that are useful only for "Satisfy WU" (which offers no update) But I would not want it causes problems as the last time, I not ask And anyone know why the KB2699988 (IE8) can not be integrated? I tried different methods but without success
To satisfy WU the hotfixes required depends on your whether you are installing hotfixes normally or using force LDR installation however to be exact since patch tuesday of this month the GDR versions of the following hotfixes are required to satisfy WU : KB2545698, KB2547666, KB2604115, KB2619339, KB2644615, KB2658846, KB2667402, KB2676562, KB2679255-v2, KB2685939, KB2686831, KB2709162, KB2709715, KB2709981-v2 What kind of problems are you talking about? I never had any kind of problems with installing any of the above hotfixes. Not sure about IE8 as I dont use it. My main browsers are firefox and chrome however I prefer to install IE9 and its hotfixes to keep my image current.
I use the SoLoR's script (which you modified) to integrate the hotfixes to the ISO (force LDR) In fact, I would not remove updates that are useful (update the .dll or other) I don't use WU, and I want to remove the hotfixe that are just useful for WU (which are superseded if I not using WU) I'm not sure that I was very understandable, sorry for my english
Then the hotfixes I mentioned will be required to satisfy WU. I am not sure what you meant. some of the hotfixes I mentioned are superseded however it doesnt hurt to install them, they will just sit in your winsxs folder however they wont be used. By the way there is no such thing as using or not using WU. WU is a part of windows and it is there working in the background and whether you like or not at some point you will be forced to consult it for example becoming aware of the new updates that has just been released and before McRip have updated the repo or searching for office updates or for any other reason so it is better to either hide the hotfixes showing there as required or install the hotfixes I mentioned. I always install those hotfixes and never had any problem. Anyway out of those hotfixes I mentioned the following are superseded : KB2547666, KB2644615, KB2676562, KB2679255-v2
Ok, the last time I used WU, must be older than 1 year I look on the MS site (link given on this topic, I believe) for new hotfixes That is why, I have not really useful to install the hotfixe only used for WU There are some hotfixe indicated in KUC that are just "Satisfy WU (I don't install them) Thanks for your help and explanation
boys need to be integrated "update.mum", if exist "update-bf.mum" ??? SoLoR ".cmd" only install "update-bf.mum".
SOLOR script installs update-bf.mum if it exists otherwise update.mum will be used. If you need to install both GDR and LDR of a hotfix you either have to modify the script or install GDR versions manually . But anyway KUC can do all of these for you.
I have pretty much the same setup: I use those same hotfixes with no problem and also have IE9 and use the KUC to remove some IE8 components. I use chrome and palemoon as my primary browser and all is good
For removing IE8 I use the following script in WPI which runs silently during OOBE: Code: @ECHO OFF %~dp0cmdow @ /HID DISM.EXE /ONLINE /REMOVE-PACKAGE /PACKAGENAME:Microsoft-Windows-IE-Troubleshooters-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~en-US~6.1.7601.17514 /PACKAGENAME:Microsoft-Windows-IE-Troubleshooters-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7601.17514 /PACKAGENAME:Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-Optional-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~en-US~8.0.7601.17514 /PACKAGENAME:Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-Optional-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~8.0.7601.17514
