Ntdsai.dll will be applied with the version number 6.1.7600.21071 if you do not use Active Directory.

Ntdsai.dll will be applied with the version number 6.1.7601.21841 if you use Active Directory.

Pretty weird all this but I have investigated a long time to find out.

    Uploaded.

Kept both of outlook-x-none.msp. The newer one is renamed as outlook-x-none_2012.07.15.msp.

    Hello McRip,

I found your directory for Net 4, but that's what KB to install it?
It is only the hotfix here?

    Thanks

bapt check my sig for a updated .net4 installer, if you only want to install Client press & hold down SHIFT when you click Next button (you will also find a updated lang pack there, just extract and run the client_lp installer depending if you have x86 or x64)

    Thank you for the link

I need to downloaded dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64_SlimSetup, after only to install the "Client", I use the command dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64_SlimSetup.exe /ai
And I also have to download a file french for languages, that's right?

To install the French language, I use netfx_corelp_x64 or netfx_extendedlp_x64 for version "Client"?

    Thanks you

PS: I have not understood for "if you only want to install Client press & hold down SHIFT when you click Next button" :p
This is for installation directly from the dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64_SlimSetup?

EDIT: I tested with "SHIFT" during installation, it is version "Client" which is installed I think, that's 640MB

Sounds about right, it would be ALLOT bigger if you use the standard Microsoft installer (has allot of unneeded setup crap)

BTW I notice after you install a MSP you will see this size increase in Programs and features, you can ignore it because its not accurate

    Core = Client

Thanks for bringing this up Burf. I noticed this also before posting the hotfix but since patches are supposed to be cumulative, I ignored the differences. After seeing your post, I looked into it a little deeper. Here's what I found:

Compared to the previous hotfix, only one file is updated to a newer version: Olmapi32.dll. 15 files in the newer hotfix are identical to the previous hotfix, but the previous hotfix contains 11 files that are not in the new one (hence, it's larger size). What I see is that those 11 files are identical to the SP1 versions. And that explains why they're not included in the newest hotfix- they're not needed if you've installed SP1.

The following are the files that are in the previous hotfix, but not in the new one. I removed all Outlook hotfixes to get to a baseline state (1st column). Next, I installed the older hotfix first, followed by the newest (2nd column). I removed the hotfixes again and then installed only the newest hotfix (3rd column). As you can see, there is no difference in file versions, regardless of whether the older hotfix was installed prior or not. So, only the latest hotfix is needed.

    Code:
no hotfixes (only SP1): with older installed prior to newest: with only newest:
    CONTAB32.DLL 14.0.6009.1000 14.0.6009.1000 14.0.6009.1000
    ENVELOPE.DLL 14.0.6024.1000 14.0.6024.1000 14.0.6024.1000
    OMSMAIN.DLL 14.0.6015.1000 14.0.6015.1000 14.0.6015.1000
    OMSXP32.DLL 14.0.6015.1000 14.0.6015.1000 14.0.6015.1000
    OUTLACCT.DLL 14.0.6009.1000 14.0.6009.1000 14.0.6009.1000
    OUTLCTL.DLL 14.0.6009.1000 14.0.6009.1000 14.0.6009.1000
    OUTLPH.DLL 14.0.6024.1000 14.0.6024.1000 14.0.6024.1000
    OUTLRPC.DLL 14.0.6016.1000 14.0.6016.1000 14.0.6016.1000
    OUTLVBS.DLL 14.0.6009.1000 14.0.6009.1000 14.0.6009.1000
    SCANPST.EXE 14.0.6015.1000 14.0.6015.1000 14.0.6015.1000
    TRANSMGR.DLL 14.0.6009.1000 14.0.6009.1000 14.0.6009.1000
It would be best to remove the previous hotfix from the repo and include only the latest. Not only will it keep the repo cleaner, but since only one .msp file per program is applied via the \Updates folder during initial install, this eliminates the need to manually install the newest hotfix after a fresh install.

    Hi all,

Been following this for a while, but I have a question about LDR and GDR. If this post does not belong here please feel free to move or delete.
After reading on MS technet, I understand that:
    - LDR is the same as QFE and are to solve specific problems. Those updates are not security updates but will include previous released security updates for those files. They are not made available generally, until a SP is released
    - GDR are the updates as offered by WU and found on the download center. They are security updates, not performance updates.

I'm a little confused, does this mean that any performance update will only be released in a SP? Only security updates are made available by MS in the meanwhile?
I'm trying to understand if there is a point in adding LDR updates, if they only fix specific issues that most people likely won't encounter.

    Cheers.

Is there an MSU for DirectAccess_Connectivity_Assistant_1_0? I am also wondering if there is a specific reason the KUC only has v2RC and not v1

I never even considered the case where you don't have SP1 installed. I think it should be a requirement that the latest SP is installed, both for Office and for Windows. The argument that some businesses may not want to install if before testing is a little moot, since they don't test it after installing these cumulative updates or hotfixes anyway :)

    Nice find!
