@Pointzero: Double checked everthing. Here the complete list. Windows 7 x64 10.08.2012 Added: KB2607863 (Additional/RSAT) KB2616142 KB2721259 Removed: KB2462585-v2 (Additional/RSAT) ----------------------------------- Windows 7 x86: Added: KB2607863 (Additional/RSAT) KB2616142 KB2721259
KB2462585-v2 should be left in. KB2462137-v2 is the one to remove. (Might also want to note that KB2721259 is -v2.) Other than that, all looks good!
For the current updates in McRip's repository, to satisfy WU you wil need the following updates to add to an offline image (I've never used the method to install them on a live system): For x64 - KB2547666, KB2644615, KB2676562 and KB2709715. For x86 - KB2547666, KB2644615, KB2676562 and KB2567680. @McRip How about re-adding the Satisfy WU folder in the additional folder? I think it would be very useful for a lot of people.
If one of those updates is added to the boot.wim (image 2) the setup asks for a DVD/CD driver if you install win7 from a DVD. I removed them from the DVD folder which contains files for the boot.wim images.
2462585 is still current 2462137 is superseded by 2607863 and 2462585. ups pointzero has allready posted.
I would say NO. It is absolutely useless to satisfy Windows Update and then to have older file versions on the computer. Just hide those updates from Windows Update. And I would never integrate such updates into my offline image. That's a total nonsense. Thankfully Windows 8 acts correctly now. I does not show up an update anymore if u install it in LDR/QFE mode. A real progress. That also means, windows Update is not working properly to me.
The KB2610379-v2 and KB2698707 is replaced by which hotfix? Thanks EDIT: KB2698707 in not superseded, ok
Ok. Let me put it like this. 1. Your way - you don't have them in the additional folder. User Rick is a beginner, finds out about your repository from Win Toolkit, integrates everything to an offline image, except those WU satisfying updates, is happy to install the resulted image to a live system, but finds out when scanning WU that some updates are needed. What do you think he'll do? Search this 600+ pages thread to see if they're needed or just install them and thus having old versions of some files on the hdd? 2. My way - beginner user Rick integrates also those updates via Win Toolkit (DISM), that sorts them alphabetically, so NO older & unneeded versions is kept on the resulted image. User Rick then installs windows and everything is ok, also with WU. I won't argue with you, as I've seen before it's useless, once you've set your mind on something it's like that, flexible isn't something I can say about you. So this post is redundant, as the needed effect - to make you see why those updates are needed, I think just can't happen. Let's just hope I'm wrong about this...
