Since the update "explorer.exe" (I can not remember what it is hotfix) in the task manager, explorer.exe is often more than 70MB (max 100MB, I see)
Before, it never exceeded ~ 30MB

    It's the same with you?

Mine is currently 150MB :s. I think you are right though, I am sure it used to be much smaller.

Do you have a slim installer for .Net 4.5 as of yet?

It might be caused by a third party library that is loaded. In saying that, mine is now only 100MB. Maybe it;s got to do with how much RAM on the system and whether it is completely loaded or pages data as required? How much system RAM do you have bapt?

McRip I see you updated the folder so I was wondering if you had any thoughts on this?

I did not think about this point yet. And I have no idea, to be honest.

Ideally you only want to install LDR updates if both LDR and GDR are present, however for SatisfyWU updates, both GDR and/or LDR (whichever is present) is required to be installed for them no to show in Windowsupdate. I haven't looked at the toolkit for a long time, so not sure what method it actually does (where it is GDR, LDR, or both) but in any case, in the ideal scenario, normal updates and SatisfyWU updates need to be installed in a slightly different way. The reason why you need both LDR and GDR installed is so you can make use of the LDR version even if the GDR version is present. Normally, both are 'installed' on the system, but only the GDR version is active unless certain requirements are met, LDR versions however can always be set active if explicitly installed via the update_bf.mum file.

    I hope that makes sense!

Makes perfect sense to me and I appreciate the explanation... I actually use a combination of WinToolKit and the KUC scripts to create my integration, so for me the issue is also how do I keep all my updates in sync with McRips server. I have been relying on WinToolKit for that.

I have 16GB. Best guess is that if you have enough system RAM, all explorer features are loaded into memory. On top of the actual Windows side of Explorer, you also have third party plugins which I assume actually add to the explorer.exe memory use. Third party considerations are things like 7-zip, winrar, universal extract, ffdshow, lavf filters (for thumbnailing of video files) etc. With less RAM, these extra features are probably loaded as necessary?

Mines 'dropped' back to 99MB, that is with no extra Explorer Windows open.
