The whole system is just being heavily ddosed again. Guys, I am really f**king fed up with that situation... If this situation will continue the next days then I will shut down this fantastic service and project. rickendo and burfadel needn't worry about their accounts. They will remain... Understand my decision if it will continue like this. You can test it by yourself by downloading a file.... A few KB/s...
Are you serious with adfly the updates? The whole server is being ddosed. This is my own server. I pay a lot dough for it every month... Due to data security I am not allowed to show you the log files... You woudn't believe it...
KB2726535-x64, KB2729094-v2-x64 (in GDR and LDR); and KB2786081-x64 (in LDR) are required to satisfy M$ update when the cabs are installed live. The hotfixes are , as you stated, not required. The x86 and x64 bit processes are part of the "Enhanced Protected Mode" introduced with IE 10 which runs in 64-bit process and can be altered in Group Policy to suit your needs. IE 9 and earlier use the IE 7 Standard for protected mode which is 32-bit only. IE 10 uses both if not configured otherwise depending on the security settings etc. and that is also "Default" behaviour.
Maybe you should install firewall and ban their IP`s, or something about that? I guess they will not not accept your request
The service will be online in about 2 hours. I had to route it to another place through dns. If I wouldn't have done that all the other servers wouldn't have worked either anymore. I first need some coffee because I just got up. How many IP's shall I ban through the firewall? DDOS attacks can't be stopped that way. It can't be stopped in any way.
I am thinking about that only WinToolkit and The downloader from Alphawaves will be allowed to download the updates.
If IE10 is installed "Online", these hotfix are "Satisfy WU"? You know, this is what setting in Group Policy? Thanks McRip, good luck for the problems with the server
I would be ok with that but better yet would be request based access. So by default ban all IP-s and when someone need access they provide their IP and you add it to the whitelist. Ofcourse depending on the number of requests this can get tiresome very quickly. However when another alternative is to shut the servers down then request based access doesent seems so drastic anymore. There are also companies out there who supposedly shield you from DDoS attacks but im rather skeptical about those.
McRip, I'm very sorry about your issue. I'm not a member of the tin foil hat brigade, so no conspiracy theories today, but it's very likely that Microsoft may have a twisted interest in keeping those servers down. I hope you'll alow at least WinToolkit users to somehow donwnload from your server. Very sorry again, wished I could help you somehow.
1) yes 2) Computer and User Configuration>Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Internet Explorer>Internet Control Panel>Advanced Page
Thanks McRip; something along the lines of what Komm was forced to do and it seems to have worked for him...bandwidth wise. Just got up too and made one hell of a good cup of coffee-only in Canada you say???!!!!
I have just decided to only allow the downloads for WinToolkit and the app from Alaphawaves. I am just working on it and testing it. The service will be online a bit later because of testing. I'll keep you posted.
I'm sitting here having my 1st cup of coffee and reading the latest events with complete disgust for these lame jackoff's that keep doing this... I am almost speechless. I'm sure we all wish we could help you in anyway possible. A colleague of mine is a security expert for a very large banking firm, I have no idea if there is anything he can help with but if you are interested I will PM you and see if I can put you in direct contact... just let me know.
I am definitely not ready to implement IE10 yet for client images (I will use it for mine though) so I am wondering what pre-req's, etc should I be installing to satisfy WU and be completely patched short of IE10
McRip, one request - please keep public the changelog .txt for repositories, and maybe other info .txt files found on your server. Very useful at least the changelog. Thanks.
