If you are reffering to ''my'' solution (the archives on the previous page), all these updates are in the IE11 prerequisites sub-folder. So user error Or do you want me next time to put all updates in IE11 prerequisites in the main folder? Probably a good idea...
If I remember correctly, KB2855844 is overwritten by platform update for E10 / IE11. Hope abbodi will help here. But again, I've tested the updates from the archive on both x86 / x64 VMs, even the satisfy WU for GDR branch is ok... But yes, I tested ONLY with IE11 and its prerequisites
some question about the NOV update ... 1. KB2877985-v2 is superseded by KB2870256-v3 ?? 2. KB2868626 is new hotfix or superseded ? i cant find about the hotfix is oredy superseded or is new ... hope some stuff can help it .... thanks ~
Correct, but also KB2706045 is superseded if you install IE9 or later. Yes, for regular system without platform, KB2855844 Supersedes KB2835361 but if you install platform update, then KB2855844 is superseded, and KB2835361 is valid 1. yes 2. KB2868626 is a new update, and it's not superseded
Frankly, this piece of work is tedious and time consuming (i.e. testings involved) ... and at times, taken for granted. Supports that an affordable subscribed service maybe the way forward (due to hosting, labour costs etc). Seconded that donation's path is unlikely to work out ... Hope that if the new owners of Win7 and Win8 repositories ever encounter any difficulty, bring them to the table. Let's deliberate on the appropriate course of action ... over oblivion.
I also think there is a distinct difference between users that are mere hobbyists and those who use this in their professions. If a hobbyist comes here every 2 or 3 months to make an updated image it's a very different situation than if someone that uses the services rendered daily, etc. I also tend to agree that if there were any issues regarding funding or anything else, than how come this is not discussed? Why keep up with hundreds and thousands of updates, yet not make it a big point to talk to anyone about this issue? That would have put the ball in the court of the users; if they then didn't come through they made their own bed, so to speak. The other thing is I'm always weary about forwarding money to things like this; what is even the legal status of hosting Microsoft updates/hotfixes? Another thing I don't like is sending monies to is people making visual styles; they are selling MS proprietary files (modified, etc.) so if you buy them then what sort of position does it put you in? I'm not paranoid about that but it is a legal tie to one's actual person that I'm personally not fond of establishing. In the end I understand McRip's position if this is costing him too much to maintain. No one but him has a right to have qualms about this. He did excellently and I'm sure many are grateful to him for his efforts.
A new repository solution is in the works, it is one where we won't need to worry about funding for hosting . Abbodi1406 has worked on the Windows 7 updates, I am in charge of the Windows 8.1 and Office 2013 updates. I'm currently very busy, but I will have plenty of free time in 2 weeks time (actually maybe a bit sooner than that) to finalise things on our end. The only thing we have to wait for then is Alphawaves updated hotfix downloader to support this new system. The new system is probably how we should have approached the concept of the repository from the outset.
