List for this week new/2891347 and old/2891347 are different. Win7, Win8 new: 2908383. NET4.5 Win7 new: 2908385. NET4.5 Win8 new: 2908387. NET 4.5.1 Win8 new: 2909146. NET 4.5.1 Win8 new: 2909239. NET 4.5.1 Win8
Thanks 2891347 is the same in December (2891347-v2) 2908383 contains new installer for .NET 4.5.1 "Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 Hotfix Rollup (KB2908383) Setup" for Windows 7 only 2909146 has the same Hotfix, but its a Web Installer for All Windows 2909239 has the same Hotfix, but its an Offline Installer for All Windows
You need to install KB2909239 only. It contains all previous hotfixes and updates, also the hotfix rollup.
@abbodi1406 Regarding the new WHD list for windows 7 updates for the x86 branch (i'll also check the x64 sometimes this week, after you'll make the changes you consider that are needed), I have some remarks: 1. superseded updates from december, that are still downloaded by WHD (you've forgot to delete them): 2495786 2614066 2639320 2834886 2836814 2863706 2868725 2875656 2883703 2889673-v2 2. superseded by platform update & IE11 - I really encourage you to move these updates from main folder to smth like ''IE9 prerequisites'' in the extra folder, for users that choose to installl / integrate IE9 instead of IE11 and platform update. It's good they're there as an alternative, but I really think it's not a good idea to offer them by default, as probably the vast majority of users choose to integrate / install the very-good-and-modern-browser-IE11 2855844 2584449 2591500-v3 2647169 2741355 2704372-v7 2743155-v2 3. Other extra updates from your solution: 2581608 - not superseded for x86? 2752259 - not superseded for x86? 2735433 - SNMP only? 2847635 - SNMP only? 2857650 - in the main folder!!! why??? 2727101 - remote desktop only? 2749615 - better in WMF 3.0 folder? 4. superseded, that includes some needed reg entries - why not include only their .reg extras, instead of the whole .msu, and also include other needed .reg entries from other hotfixes? 2695321 2706168 2732072 5. 2780124 - not available anymore / retracted by Microsoft - I see you choose to still offer it, it's your option, I don't fully agree 6. KB2685811 and KB2685813 - not exactly best to be integrated, maybe a mention somewhere they could give headaches when integrated? 7. I have an extra update - 2846340 - why not in yours also? Is it superseded? 8. Question - I'm also in debate about the importance of this one - why not move KB943790 (File.Management.API) from extra to additionals? I think some users will find this ''extra'' feature important
1. Thanks for noticing the superseded updates list. 2. Will add them to "Additional/Without Platform". 3. They are not superseded completely (yes additional reg fix is considered valid not superseded component). they are applicable to all systems, not SNMP only. 2857650 is a valid general update, regardless of It's being RDC8.1 prerequisite. 2727101 is a regular hotfix. No, because most users doesn't install WMF. 4. The project name is "Windows Hotfix Downloader", not reg fixes downloader as long as they contains registry fixes, they are not superseded. 5. One hotfix won't hurt 6. I always integrate them without an issue, and there are another number of updates that may cause error or fail in integration due pending operation or updates so 2685811 and 2685813 is not different and they cann't be counted as "Not Integratable" but i may consider moving them to special folder. 7. It's exist in the list (KB2846340-v2), look again. 8. Some others also find KB974405 (Windows.Identity.Foundation) important users who knows and need its importance, surely can get it wherever it's sorted it's just matter of formalities, and grabing it from Extra Category isn't that much trouble.
3. The warnings are related to uninstalling the update, not installing it 5. my net speed is terrible now , (although no need, the date isn't that much important ) 7. I just checked, MS pulled KB2846340-v2 (link not working), now only KB2846340 is offered it's still a valid update. will change it in the list, thanks for the heads up.
What's "Platform" and "Without Platform" categories? also in whd 4.5 -- what happens if i have my downloaded files has KB100000 and there's a new KB in the list that has KB100001 that superseeds it, will i need to manually delete kb100000?
If we are talking about the offline installer of Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 for All Windows, does KB2909239 completely supersede KB2858728?
My GDR/LDR analogy for Office updates is not accurate since Office updates don't contain the two code branches like GDR/LDR Windows updates, but still- that differentiation in numbering schemes means something (possibly just something simple like hotfix vs update in the first two numbers). I've always used the updates with the overall highest version, even if they have older release dates. But I've never been 100% sure if this is correct, nor understood why they did it this way. It seems counter-intuitive to use an update with a lower version #, but maybe that's just the way it is with Office updates. I'm still not sure. I've searched the net before for info on this topic and I'm surprised that definitive info isn't posted somewhere by now. Thanks for all your in-depth analysis on this. Hopefully we'll get this figured out in the near future.
