My GDR/LDR analogy for Office updates is not accurate since Office updates don't contain the two code branches like GDR/LDR Windows updates, but still- that differentiation in numbering schemes means something (possibly just something simple like hotfix vs update in the first two numbers). I've always used the updates with the overall highest version, even if they have older release dates. But I've never been 100% sure if this is correct, nor understood why they did it this way. It seems counter-intuitive to use an update with a lower version #, but maybe that's just the way it is with Office updates. I'm still not sure. I've searched the net before for info on this topic and I'm surprised that definitive info isn't posted somewhere by now. Thanks for all your in-depth analysis on this. Hopefully we'll get this figured out in the near future.
My understanding is, is that previously the MSPs were downloaded directly from McRip's servers. He would get the EXEs from Microsoft and then extract the MSPs. Now, in this new approach, WHD links directly to Microsoft to download the updates, but Microsoft only hosts the updates in EXE form. Also, these EXEs include all localization files, so you will need to grab only the localization files that you need. Of course you can extract the MSPs from the EXEs with the following command: Code: /Extract:[extract folder path] /Quiet
Download all the updates (office) with WDH and you've all exe files. Select all and right click then all with 7z and select Extract here. The msp files you need are now all in. Sorry for my English
Duplicate MSPs Thanks for the update burfadel! My analysis of the duplicate MSPs from this updated list is below. This is in relation to the discussion PointZero and I were having. We're still not exactly sure which ones are considered the "latest" versions. Is it by date, or (parts of the) version number? View attachment 26108
It's by the version number. Had this issue before as well when figuring out which msp file is the right one. When I've been testing this a long time ago I've tried installing the msp files by the higher date then WU was offering the same update by the higher version number. When I've been testing it by installing the higher version number WU was silent and did not offer anything. Believe it or not, it's up to you. I think I am experienced enough with office updates. I will keep installing office msp files by the higher version number. Cheers
Only MSPs related to the language you're using are needed. But even for the English ver of Office, I do include proof-es-es.msp and proof-fr-fr.msp (in addition to proof-en-us.msp) since Office includes proofing tools for those languages. The Office installer is smart though. You could just include every MSP available in the Updates folder and Office will only install the ones that are needed during initial install. It is selective, based on language and which components of Office you choose during install. During install, a log file is created in your temp folder that lists exactly which MSPs were applied and which were not. I forget the name of the file, but it has the word setup in the name, I think. So you could just include every MSP available in your Updates folder, install Office normally and then view the log file afterwards to find which were not applicable and then eliminate them from your collection.
I did some tests with fresh installs of Office: I included two versions of two updates to see which one Office selected upon install. In the Updates folder, I included a onenote-x-none.msp and a publisher-x-none.msp with version 15.0.4551.1508 and dated 11/08/13 and a onenote-x-none.msp and a publisher-x-none.msp with version 15.0.4551.1009 and dated 11/18/13. I added numbers at the end of the files so they'd have unique names and did the install. I then reversed the numbers on the updates and installed fresh again to make sure the numbers didn't affect the install order. The SetupExe log file showed all four as applicable patches but the programs always showed the updates with the highest version numbers as to what was installed. So the highest version numbered MSP (regardless of date) is what appears is needed. Thanks, but that's not true in this case since the files with the newer version/older dates are hotfixes and WU doesn't offer hotfixes. But you are right about using the latest version #'s.

Guys, what the update may affect the driver installation error AMD? After the integration of the full package installer does not see the AMD Catalyst graphics card to install the drivers on the basis of intel. For official updates is good for these additional error. Any idea that this can be affected.
Depends on your device id/the 3rd party driver package/the built in driver package, also make sure you did not integrate the Vista INF
Updates integrated with the image of SP1 Media refreshed, the whole package downloaded from McRip - security hotfix, general and IE11. Drivers do not have any uploaded so it drops out, I checked if there is nothing on Vista and no. And now this - the installation of the Catalyst on Intel (i5, Z77 Extr4) pops no visible graphics card and install only the HDMI and Catalst Menager. I figured that the problem is in some updates from the 2012 ... in December a year ago to integrate this problem when uploading jumped updates KB2592687, KB2685811, KB2685813, but only on the update of MCRip and KUC - the official all was well. Now, if I miss three updates is also the problem. I'm already a little helpless because of the long time I fight which unfortunately I can not give fully benefit from these updates. Sorry for whining but also sit in the topic systems but here I was an obstacle. sorry for my english xD
