Updates KB4493472 to Windows 7 and KB4493446 to Windows 8.1 cause system freezing shortly after startup. This is due to some problem with wifi network adapters. Probably all network cards: Intel, Atheros, Broadcom. It takes about 2 minutes on SSD drives.
The note is clear enough, and only concern Windows 7 (the NIC issue is old and installing KB4099950 or previous Rollup should resolve it) That's freeze is another thing then
Hello, I don't use antivirus, and I use wifi (not cable), if I install this update KB4493472 to Windows 7, I could suffer from this bug? Because I'm sick of Windows 10 for the slowness caused by the security system and the font cache. I will try to install this update (with Simplix pack on an Enterprise ES-ES clean ISO) and I will inform here if my system is slow because of this update.
On a fresh formatted windows 7 system, from what i gathered, i need to run this PCIClearStaleCache.exe and then install the latest Rollup?
Are there confirmed cases with ESET? I personally do not use antivirus but I only trust the ESET and Symantec products when I need to install one with ESET preference. Kaspersky is a good antivirus but I avoid it because of the worse performance against others.
Joke? Thank you for such advice. We decide for ourselves. Today's update of the Avira program has brought a positive solution. There are no more freezes or slowdowns on any system. Fake patches for Meltdown and Spectre broke down the system again. The 8th and 9th generation processors are still full of holes. Intel can not do anything about it. Intel deliberately slows down computers to drive the economy. Negative cooperation with Microsoft is necessary.
